Gennate, a plant nutrition nanomaterials company based near Manchester, has raised £550,000 — approximately $734,000 — in a seed funding round led by SFC Capital.
Gennate reported last week that it will use the funding to scale its platform for nanofertilizer formulation from laboratory development to pilot manufacturing. Its plans include creating 15 new jobs over the next three years, advancing the technology, building production capacity and launching industrial pilot programs with agritech partners.
According to the news release, Gennate has developed a continuous-flow nanoreactor platform for the low-cost, scalable production of nano-sized nutrients, thereby improving nutrient delivery efficiency. Its nanofertilizers have supported a 30 percent increase in wheat seed germination and more than 50 percent gains in crop yield and biomass.
