About the Role
We're looking for a highly motivated, results-oriented Senior React Native Developer to join a fast-paced, forward-thinking team at the forefront of smart home technology. You’ll be part of a cross-functional development group responsible for building and enhancing mobile applications that are used by millions of people to make their homes more efficient, comfortable, and sustainable.

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain performant React Native applications for both iOS and Android, using both React Native CLI and Expo depending on project requirements.
- Collaborate with designers to create intuitive, accessible, and visually appealing mobile UIs.
- Integrate with RESTful APIs and handle offline-first scenarios, caching, throttling, and error handling.
- Design and implement clean, scalable, and testable code, leveraging modern React Native libraries (e.g. Reanimated, React Navigation, styled-components/ unistyles).
- Lead and participate in code reviews, contributing to continuous improvement.
- Guide architectural decisions and technical direction for mobile projects.
- Work with backend and QA teams to ensure end-to-end quality and performance.
- Handle mobile app deployment and updates across platforms (App Store / Google Play).
- Support CI/CD pipelines and release automation workflows.
- Champion mobile performance, accessibility, and inclusive design practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience building and maintaining mobile applications using React Native in a commercial setting.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript, React Hooks, component-driven development.
- Solid experience with state management tools like Redux, RTK Query, and Zustand.
- Comfortable integrating with REST APIs and handling various edge cases gracefully.
- Production experience working with Firebase, AWS, or other cloud/mobile backend services.
- Familiarity with native modules and bridging (Swift, Kotlin, Java, Objective-C).
- Experience publishing and maintaining apps on the App Store and Google Play.
- Strong debugging, profiling and app performance optimisation skills.
- Experience working in Agile teams using tools like Git, JIRA, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a can-do, problem-solving mindset.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with Expo-based workflows and how to transition between managed and bare workflows.
- Experience with React Testing Library, Jest, and testing mobile components confidently.
- Exposure to mobile analytics and crash reporting platforms (e.g. Firebase, Sentry).
- Understanding of mobile accessibility (e.g. VoiceOver, TalkBack) and inclusive design.
- Experience implementing security and compliance features in mobile apps (e.g. GDPR, secure storage, encryption).
- Familiarity with real-time communication technologies such as WebSockets or MQTT.
- Use of debugging and profiling tools (e.g. Flipper, Reactotron, Xcode Instruments, Android Profiler).
