Senior Fullstack Engineer (Compliance Ops)

London Office - Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home

We are seeking a full-stack engineer to play a crucial part in our Compliance Operations team. In this role, you will be working on evolving our customer-facing portals for the scale Ebury wants to operate in by developing tooling and processes to empower Ebury product teams to ship amazing features efficiently and independently while maintaining a unified, usable experience for our customers.
We’re looking for the right attitude, work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit to ask the hard questions. To be informed by data, but be led by a desire to solve our customers' problems. You should learn by default and be ever curious. You should be programming language, framework, and tool agnostic but have strong opinions (weakly held) on the right tool to solve our biggest problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and delivery of complex features for customer-facing web applications.
  • Drive development using React and backend development using Python.
  • Own the full lifecycle of the products you build, including development, maintenance, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Mentor junior engineers and champion technical excellence and best practices.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to understand needs and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Contribute to our technical roadmap, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Quality is important to us; we expect your code to be testable with good test coverage.
  • Keep up-to-date with emerging technologies, tools, and practices.
  • The position may require being on-call at times.

About you:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years in full-stack development, building high-performance web applications, with significant experience in modern frontend frameworks (React).
  • Proficiency in Python3, FastAPI, SQL, REST APIs, or similar.
  • Experience working in a platform team, providing tooling and processes for other teams.
  • Strong understanding of architecture, design patterns, and building scalable, testable code (unit & integration tests).
  • Comfort with containerization, monitoring, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English.

Massive bonus if you have:

  • Good understanding of Event Sourcing and exposure to event-driven development.
  • Experience in applying AI/ML to solve customer problems.
