Who You Are

This is an exciting opportunity to join Verkada Legal as the first employment lawyer for our London office. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in UK employment law, along with familiarity and experience in employment laws across EMEA and APAC regions. You should be comfortable advising fast-paced, multinational, tech companies, and have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. You will also have a strong worth ethic, low ego, and a positive attitude. This role will report into our Head of Employment and will join our Head of EMEA to build out our London team. We are an “in the office” company and this role is based in our London office.

What You’ll Be Expected To Do

  • Provide practical, solutions oriented advice to the People Team on all aspects of employment law in the UK and other non-US countries, including hiring, performance management, investigations, accommodations, incentive compensation, terminations, leaves of absence, wage and hour, benefits and more. 
  • Manage employment demand letters and employment litigation in the UK and other non-US countries, including discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination disputes.  
  • Support on complaint resolution and assist with employment investigations. 
  • Work with the People Team to update employment contracts, policies, procedures, separation agreements and develop related trainings. 
  • Identify and implement process improvements and undertake new projects to help scale the employment law efforts across the business. 
  • Monitor new and emerging developments in UK and other non-US employment laws and identify potential impacts on Verkada. 

What You’ll Need

  • Qualified solicitor in England/Wales with employment-law experience in house and at a law firm
  • Minimum of 6+ years PQE.
  • Experience providing employment law advice throughout EMEA and/or Asia-Pacific regions is required. Knowledge of US employment law is a plus.
  • In depth knowledge of employment laws in the UK and working knowledge of employment laws in EMEA and/or Asia-Pacific is required. 
  • Excellent legal and business judgment with the ability to provide practical, concise advice is required.
  • Experience advising private, multinational tech-companies with a robust sales force is strongly preferred.
