Senior Data Governance Specialist
Location: Manchester
Hybrid Working Policy – 2 days in the office, 3 days WFH

We are seeking a Senior Data Governance Specialist to define, implement, and oversee governance for transactional data across the organisation, with a strong focus on data integrity, lifecycle management, business rule definition, and operational accountability. 

The role will be responsible for establishing and maintaining governance rules for transactional data objects, ensuring that data is created, used, monitored, closed, retained, and managed in line with agreed business processes, compliance expectations, and company-wide governance standards. 

The successful candidate will work closely with Global Process Owners, business stakeholders, technical teams, and data teams to define ownership, validate lifecycle rules, support data quality improvements, and enable governance reporting through Power BI dashboards and data quality monitoring.

What you will do:

  • Define, document, and govern business rules for transactional data across relevant business processes and SAP objects. 
  • Develop and maintain governance frameworks, lifecycle rules, ownership models, and control points for transactional data. 
  • Collaborate with Global Process Owners, process experts, business stakeholders, and technical teams to validate rules, responsibilities, and governance requirements. 
  • Propose and implement business rules for data lifecycle management, ensuring alignment with governance, compliance, and business process requirements. 
  • Work with technical teams to translate business rules into data models, reporting logic, and data quality monitoring outputs. 
  • Monitor data quality trends, identify governance gaps, and follow up with responsible stakeholders to support resolution. 
  • Support complete lifecycle management of transactional data, including open, active, inactive, closed, completed, cancelled, retained, and exception-managed records. 
  • enhancements / Nexus, new process and tools, including AI based, introductions etc.) together with local and global supply chain group, corporate accounting, global operations as well as Sales departments when applicable

What we are looking for:

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, particularly within transactional data and business process environments. 
  • Experience defining, documenting, and implementing business rules for data quality, lifecycle management, and governance controls. 
  • Good understanding of SAP transactional data concepts and the relationship between business processes, system statuses, lifecycle stages, and reporting requirements. 
  • Experience working with Power BI or similar tools to create dashboards, data quality reports, governance views, and lifecycle monitoring outputs. 
  • Ability to work with technical teams to translate business requirements into reporting logic, data models, field requirements, and validation rules. 
  • Experience monitoring data quality, reviewing exceptions, identifying root causes, and coordinating follow-up with business stakeholders.
