Job Description Summary

Location: Barcelona, Spain
Relocation Support: This role is based in Barcelona, Spain. Novartis is unable to offer relocation support: please only apply if accessible.
Lead the design, deployment, and successful delivery of large-scale transformational and innovative DD&IT solutions within the Technical Research and Development (TRD) domain.
Understand the business direction, align strategy to scope of critical DDIT TRD programs, and drive measurable expected results aligned with business process and solution standards.
Direct program/project teams (internal and external) and maintain control of progress, quality and budget. Responsible for leading cross-functional teams to execute complex DDIT programs.
Ensure a smooth transition to operations and the optimal planning and execution of all activities associated with a release.


 

Job Description

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure program goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives.

  • Manage all major program activities, ensuring the accuracy, quality, and integrity of the information, while providing consistency in content and deployment standards.

  • Manage the development of program plans, specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resources to accomplish the desired business outcomes, aligned with time and budget commitments

  • Collaborate effectively with other functions in the organization, as well as with strategic suppliers providing services to the program.

  • Own program status, issues and risks through appropriate channels / tools and ensure that these are reported back to agreed program governance (e.g. Steering Committee) with a focus on required actions, ownership, and risk management.

  • Proactively consult with management and review program proposals to shape goals, time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing program

  • Lead the program team members (project managers, workstream leads) and provide thought leadership aligned with expected results ensuring consistency of implementation approach and adherence to applicable methodologies, processes, tools, and standards.

  • Take accountability to ensure adherence with security and compliance policies and procedures within the group program scope

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE

Education

  • University degree in Informatics, Computer Sciences, business or similar

  • Project methodologies (Agile - scrum training; waterfall; hybrid)

Professional

  • 15+ years of program/project management experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex, innovative IT and data-driven programs.

  • Extensive project management and change management experience

  • Previous working experience within the pharmaceutical industry or life sciences is highly desirable. Knowledge in drug development – CMC (Chemical Manufacturing and Controls), TRD (Technical Research and Development) business domain areas would be a plus.

  • Excellent understanding of business requirements and the ability to effectively align program strategy with those requirements.

  • Hands-on project management experience, with a proven ability to lead and oversee 2-3 large and complex projects.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively navigate and collaborate with different stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated capability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrix environment, driving major changes and fostering collaboration across boundaries.

  • Possess strong people leadership skills, including accountability, relationship management, and the ability to inspire and empower team members.

  • Business fluent in English (written and spoken)
