Howden - Corporate & Commercial are on the hunt for a New Business Sales Executive to join the team in Chester. The role will play a key part in working with the telesales, sales and account handlers to support the performance of all the functions and processes of securing new corporate client accounts to the Corporate & Commercial division. This includes pipeline management, engaging with markets, attending client meetings, preparing notes and files, compliant document production, system processing, discussing market strategies and collaborations with other teams to develop further opportunities.
 

This position is ideal for an enthusiastic, hard-working professional with insurance and sales experience, who is looking to develop their knowledge in more technical insurance classes and client needs. Please note this is a full-time, permanent opportunity. You will be based in our Chester office and ideally be onsite for 2 days per week on average.
 

Overview:

  • Winning new clients

  • Retaining existing clients

  • Pipeline management

  • Attending regular new business proposal meetings

  • Meeting notes and file recordings

  • Preparation of market presentations

  • Report and document creation

  • Identification of cross-sale opportunities

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of all the main classes of General Insurance and the CII’s Code of Ethics and GDPR

  • Working knowledge of Howden product range, policy wordings and service standards

  • Responsibility for own personal development and for keeping own knowledge up to date by the use of e-learning, in-house courses, and studying for professional qualifications in order to gain the required CPD points

Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Commercial insurance

  • Minimum 2 years sales experience

  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and to short deadlines

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Knowledge of Acturis system is essential

  • Proficiency of Microsoft Excel / Word

Qualifications:

  • GCSE in Maths & English

  • A levels (desirable)

  • Cert CII and above (desirable)
