The Manager I Forecasting will oversee system demand forecasts and planning for assigned products, managing up to 10,000 SKUs across all stores at the item/warehouse/store/day combination level using statistical-based forecasting tools. This role ensures demand forecasts are integrated into legacy systems to drive store and warehouse replenishment while supporting vendor collaboration, display optimization, promotion planning, and event execution. The Manager I will manage and maintain forecast master data, seasonality patterns, product-to-event associations, and product lifecycle management for assigned product lines.
As the primary point of contact for Stock Analysts and Demand Systems Specialists, this role will review sales trends, implement forecasting parameters, and conduct advanced statistical analysis to reduce forecast error and minimize manual adjustments. The Manager I will also analyze future variability in product movement - improving efficiencies, resolving root causes, and supporting procurement initiatives such as diverting, forward buying, and efficiency programs.
In addition to strategic forecasting responsibilities, this role will directly manage a team of analysts, providing leadership, training, coaching, and mentorship. The Manager I will oversee their team's work, serve as the primary connection between the team and Demand Specialists, and ensure successful execution of seasonal, storm, and holiday planning, as well as future planning for SDP/DC store moves.
This position will provide guidance and direct supervision for Analyst IIs and offer coaching support to Analyst IIIs within the larger team.
**Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC, Quincy, MA, Carlisle, PA, Scarborough, ME, Hyattsville, MD
Essential job functions:

  • Has ownership of specific desk forecasting through managing their team of analyst IIs. Is responsible for the desks their team has.
  • Responsible for ensuring Forecast & Replenishment (F&R) system forecast accuracy for assigned product line.
  • Use advanced statistical forecast accuracy analysis to reduce system errors and avoid manual forecast adjustments.
  • Resolve forecasting exceptions and perform daily root cause analysis of underlying issues to improve forecast accuracy for promotional and turn product.
  • Manage all Relex (F&R system) daily, weekly, monthly forecast workflows resulting in reduced systemic forecast error.
  • Partner with In Stock Analysts and Demand System Specialists to align trends and strategies in support of forecast accuracy.
  • Provide a forecast to vendor partners (private brands team)
  • Complete sales correction trouble shooting and analyze where the effective corrected sales are coming from when necessary, i.e. which sales correction type is the effective one (stockout, campaign or manual correction).
  • Collaborate with Category teams on Ad promotions, special programs and holidays.
  • Review Store and Distribution Center baseline forecasts and BIAS and troubleshoot any forecasts with low forecast accuracy or BIAS.
  • Review and, if necessary, update master data and/or parameters for Product that will be terminated.
  • Follow-up on and review the forecast for new store locations.
  • Directly mentor, direct, motivate and their develop team of analysts while maximizing individual contribution, professional growth, and ability to function effectively and achieve business goals.

Qualifications:
Knowledge

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics or related business field or equivalent relevant work experience


Experience

  • 5+ Years


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relex knowledge preferred.
  • Store Operations: Supply Chain knowledge preferred.
