About the Role
Following private equity investment we are growing the group finance function to support our growth plans. We are looking for a Management Accountant to play a key role in shaping the finance function to support fast paced business growth. You will support the leadership of the business by owning the numbers, establishing accurate and insightful management accounts, and building the processes and controls that allow us to move faster with confidence.
You will be responsible for helping build a modern, scalable finance function capable of supporting a high-growth, PE-backed business. You'll have the opportunity to shape systems, processes, reporting and controls from the ground up and make a significant contribution to how finance operates at Swanky.
This is a new position at Swanky that offers exposure to senior level reporting, strategic planning and finance leadership from day one, and the opportunity for role progression to Financial Controller in due course.
This is a hybrid role, typically requiring 2-3 days per week in our Exeter office and team days as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and lead the management accounting function to ensure accurate financial records, efficient operations and timely financial information and reporting.
- Implement a timely and effective month end process for the group.
- Prepare monthly management accounts including variance analysis and insight for non-finance users.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards e.g. income recognition.
- Design and implement controls and policies and maintain a strong control environment.
- Introduce processes and systems to increase efficiency and capacity, using AI appropriately.
- Oversee the year end process including liaising with external advisers and auditors to prepare financial statements and ensure all regulatory and tax requirements are met.
- Manage operational cash flows and produce accurate forecasts to ensure the company has sufficient working capital.
- Monitor and manage FX exposure and currency transactions to mitigate exposure.
- Coordinate the annual budget and quarterly reforecast processes across the business.
- Partner with the CFO, CEO and Heads of Departments with analysis and reporting for strategic decision-making.
- Work closely with the CFO and leadership team to evaluate growth opportunities, investment decisions, acquisitions and operational performance.
About you
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) and established management accountant.
- A self-starter seeking a role with autonomy to shape the management accounting and reporting function. You’ll have a view on what needs doing and take appropriate action.
- A professional who holds yourself and others to high standards.
- Personable and collaborative, working with colleagues across the business to make finance part of daily business.
- An effective communicator with a commercial mindset, able to build relationships with finance and non-finance colleagues.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and energised by change; you thrive in environments where processes are still being built.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail.
- Motivated by progression — you are ambitious about developing into a Financial Controller.
