Job overview:

As the Head of Digital Marketing your primary responsibility is to develop, execute and optimise OnBuy’s digital marketing strategy to drive customer acquisition, revenue growth, contribution and market share expansion.  


Key Responsibilities:  

Strategy and Planning: 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data driven digital marketing strategy (including paid marketing) aligned with business goals and objectives. 
  • Identify and prioritise paid marketing channels, including but not limited to search engine marketing (Google shopping, Bing shopping), affiliate marketing and social advertising and emerging digital platforms. 
  • Develop and execute robust organic and paid marketing strategies to improve online visibility and drive traffic. 
  • Analyse industry trends and competitive landscape to capitalise on opportunities. 

Campaign Management:  

  • Lead the end-to-end management of all paid acquisition campaigns, from strategic planning and execution to continuous optimisation and performance reporting. 
  • Monitor and adjust advertising budgets to maximise ROI. 
  • Implement A/B testing and data-driven strategies to improve campaign performance. 
  • Proactively identify and trial partnerships with cutting-edge Market Tech providers to leverage emerging technologies and processes, ensuring OnBuy remains at the front. 


Data Analysis and Reporting: 

  • Utilise analytics tools to track, report at react to key performance metrics. 
  • Prepare regular reports, present insights and recommendations to leadership team, reinforcing data-informed decision-making across the department 
  • Continuously evaluate and refine strategies based on performance data and market dynamics. 

Budget Management: 

  • Strategically manage and allocate substantial advertising budgets to achieve and exceed KPIs across all markets. 
  • Monitor and control spending to maximise ROI. 

Experience and Skills:   

  • Proven senior experience in digital marketing and paid acquisition, in an online marketplace or e-commerce environment.  
  • An inquisitive mindset, always trying and testing new ideas/segmenting until we find more value. 
  • A deep understanding of e-commerce and online marketplace dynamics. 
  • Exceptional analytical and data insight skills and experience with data-driven decision-making. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced start-up/scale-up, collaborative environment.   
  • Target driven delivery mindset, leading by result output 
  • Exceptional team leadership and management skills. 
  • Strong Google Shopping experience, including large-scale campaigns, 3rd party bidding technology, efficiency optimisation/cost saving, and segmentation. 
  • Strong affiliate marketing experience across different affiliate networks, including experience trading affiliate networks to maximise reach and value.  
  • Stand-out leadership abilities with experience in building and managing high-performing, multi-cultural teams. 
Requirements

Strategic Leadership:  

  • Play a more significant role in shaping company-wide digital transformation initiatives 

Cross-functional Integration:  

  • Potentially oversee multiple departments or teams beyond just digital marketing (e.g., brand marketing, retention) 

Budget and Resource Allocation:  

  • Make higher-level decisions on resource allocation and marketing technology investments 

Innovation and Market Positioning:  

  • Lead digital innovation efforts to keep the company at the forefront of industry trends 
  • Shape the company's overall market positioning and digital brand strategy 

Stakeholder Management:  

  • Lead and decide upon relationships with key partners, vendors, and industry influencers 

Organisational Development:  

  • Play a larger role in shaping the overall structure and culture of the marketing team 

Senior Leadership Experience:  

  • 10+ years of experience in digital marketing, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles 
  • Longer term proven track record of successfully leading significant growth of GMV 

Strategic Business Acumen:  

  • Experience in contributing to overall business strategy beyond just marketing

Change Management:  

  • Experience in leading change and digital transformation programmes 

Cross-industry Expertise:  

  • Broader knowledge of multiple industries and ability to apply learnings across sectors 

Global Experience:  

  • More extensive experience in managing international streams and international campaigns 

Board-level Communication:  

  • Experience in presenting to and influencing board members and C-level executives 

Thought Leadership:  

  • Recognition as a thought leader in the industry, potentially through speaking engagements or publications 
Benefits

The salary on offer for this role is up to £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
