Role Summary
At the heart of Pfizer's Digital hosting and application development strategy sits the Cloud and Network Security Services (CNSS) organization. Enabling all manner of digital infrastructure and cloud development capabilities, these services and products permeate across Pfizer influencing business outcomes and providing value to our business, shareholders, and patients every day.
The Azure Cloud Engineering and Hosting Lead has ultimate accountability for the strategy, development, lifecycle management, delivery, cost and efficacy of the Pfizer Azure Cloud environment. The role will have direct ownership in establishing a secure, compliant, productive, and innovative cloud hosting environment. This role will have accountability over how Pfizer Digital consumes and utilizes Azure hosting technologies in support of all business lines, on a global scale. Pfizer is currently on a journey to deepen and extend our use of the Microsoft Azure cloud. The Azure Cloud Engineering and Hosting Lead will manage a team of cloud engineers, developers, and product specialist with the goal of building native cloud capabilities for all of Pfizer to consume.
The ideal candidate will challenge traditional norms within the Pfizer infrastructure environment and bias towards simplicity, delivery excellence, and speed to value. This position will influence all levels of management while leading a team accountable for Azure cloud outcomes. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across senior leadership boundaries while effectively cultivating talent of all experience levels.
Role Responsibilities

  • Lead a cross functional, global engineering and service development team while creating enduring internal engineering and development standards.
  • Bring expert level knowledge and experience in leading program level technology implementation within a cloud hosting environment.
  • Set and manage the overall strategy for Pfizer's development of the Microsoft Azure cloud while being accountable for customer hosting outcomes.
  • Prioritize strategic and sustaining engineering work across a multi-disciplined engineering team while driving a culture of automation and toil reduction.
  • Develop, measure, and track key performance indicators across the Azure Cloud team.
  • Effectively manage the Azure specific P&L budget including strategies to drive efficiencies across the cloud portfolio while ensuring customers are billed for all cloud consumption.
  • Align with strategic Cloud Transformational goals by partnering directly with peer service and product owners.
  • Set the strategic vision for Azure cloud services based on an understanding of customer goals, group priorities, the portfolio of products and services offered, and their evolving underlying technologies.
  • Ensuring that Pfizer stays abreast of the latest trends in cloud product technologies and market shifts. Continuously evaluate new capabilities and provide guidance on where investments should be made.
  • Manage external partnerships with key service providers and strategic partners to ensure consistent delivery of services in alignment with Pfizer's Azure cloud strategy and in accordance with established commercial agreements.
  • Address any systemic issues in product durability and partner with operational teams to ensure effective & efficient ongoing supportability.
  • Promote ideas and innovations by taking measured risks and articulating the vision and plan to achieve desired outcomes such as improving performance, efficacy, cost efficiency, and ease-of-use.


Qualifications
Must-Have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in an enterprise IT setting, preferably in a highly regulated industry such as banking/financials or healthcare/pharmaceuticals.
  • Expert-level knowledge of and experience with Cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Excellent communicator, with an ability to influence horizontally and vertically across a large, complex, and matrixed organization. Adept at managing through competing priorities to identify those outcomes with the greatest value for Pfizer.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing a department-level P&L inclusive of forecasting/budgeting, identifying and prosecuting cost efficiency opportunities, and managing spend through the fiscal period.
  • Strong general IT knowledge with a background working directly with customers to drive Digital outcomes at a departmental or division level.
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.


Nice-to-Have

  • SME level experience in designing and implementing foundational Microsoft Azure capabilities while driving infrastructure as code standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading high-performance engineering and developments teams.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $169,700.00 to $282,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
