The position:

We are looking for a Commercial Contracts Paralegal to join our Port Services Division to assist and support to the network with respect to commercial legal agreements, which include but are not limited to customer, sub agency, supplier and data processing agreements. The role will entail being the primary adviser for all Wilhelmsen Port Services’ ‘house’ templates and to play a crucial role in the management of risk and liability in our contracts.

About the location / department:

The position will be located at our Dartford Office 3 times a week 2 days at home.

The Commercial Contracts Paralegal will report to the Legal Counsel.

Who you are:

Solid understanding of English contract law with a good understating of commercial practices and principles as well as proven drafting experience. Familiarity with data protection principles and practices would be advantageous. Shipping experience is not a necessity but is a helpful attribute. Whilst not imperative, a candidate with agency based legal structures would be fitting, as would experience with legal jurisdictions other than England and Wales. • To provide pro-active advice and support on all matters relevant to WPS ‘house’ templates, including sales agreements, supplier agreements, data processing agreements and confidentiality agreements

  • To  review, negotiate and oversee execution of WPS ‘house’ templates

  • To manage own caseload of matters which fall within the Commercial Contracts Paralegal’s allocated scope of responsibility

  • To be the primary administrator for the contract mailbox duties include allocating, logging and updating matters

  • To assist with the implementation of certain policies, processes, templates and legal documentation

  • To assist with contract management ‘post-signing’ including completion of handover documentation for all contracts handled by the Legal Team as well as periodic reviews throughout the contract life cycle

  • To assist in developing methods and tactics, policies, guidelines and training which stimulate customer loyalty and tighter contracting

  • Ensure legal and liability standard guidelines are covered under all agreements with the allocated remit and the risk / liability position is consistent across all contracts and agreements in alignment with Central Management Teams position

  • Undertake and assist with contract risk assessments

  • To liaise with WWH VP Legal, Wilhelmsen Insurance Services and external counsel as required

  • To work with colleagues to continuously improve contract management workflows, standards and deliverables by anticipating issues, providing advice and sharing knowledge and best practice

Required experience and skills:

  • University degree in law, business or similar

  • Competent in English law

  • In-house experience with contract reviews and negotiations

  • Fluent written and spoken English, with excellent written and oral presentation skills, and the ability to explain complex legal concepts in a clear, concise and commercial way

  • Analytical skills

  • Computer literate

  • Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines through good time management and allocation of priorities

  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask

What we offer:

  • Competitive Salary and benefits

  • Working for a Global Company

  • Diverse, agile, inclusive culture
