Join the Wholesale Portfolio Analytics team within Risk Management and Compliance at JPMorgan Chase, where you will play a crucial role in conducting industry research and analytics to enhance our understanding of credit risk in the wholesale sector. As a Wholesale Portfolio Analytics - Industry Analytics Associate in the Wholesale Portfolio Analytics team, you will be actively engaged in implementing extensive industry research and analytics initiatives tailored specifically for the Wholesale Credit Risk organization. Your role will involve conducting in-depth analyses of various industries to provide valuable insights and data-driven recommendations that will enhance our understanding of credit risk within the wholesale sector. By leveraging your expertise, you will contribute to the development of robust analytical frameworks and methodologies that will support informed decision-making and strategic planning within the organization.
Job responsibilities

  • Conduct industry research: Perform industry research using a combination of external and internal data sources to provide a credit perspective on various industries, supporting informed credit risk evaluations and strategic decisions.
  • Lead thematic and portfolio research: Manage initiatives focused on identifying and analyzing emerging risk trends, synthesizing data and insights to understand their impact on industry dynamics and credit risk.
  • Develop industry models: Create and refine models that project financial outcomes based on macroeconomic indicators, assisting in forecasting industry performance and assessing potential credit risks.
  • Report writing and presentation: Compile research findings into clear, detailed reports and presentations, communicating analytical insights to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work with various teams to integrate industry research findings into broader credit risk management processes, collaborating with stakeholders to develop tools and frameworks.
  • Monitor industry and economic trends: Track and evaluate industry developments and macroeconomic trends, updating models and research outputs as necessary.
  • Utilize technical skills (optional): Use Python and SQL skills to manage and manipulate large datasets, and apply Large Language Model (LLM) skills to synthesize information from multiple sources.


Required qualifications, skills, and capabilities

  • Educational background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or related fields.
  • Industry experience: relevant work experience in Financial Risk Analytics, Industry Research, or Wholesale Credit Risk Management.
  • Research and analytical skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on conducting thorough industry research and analysis.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present research findings effectively.
  • Collaboration and teamwork: Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships with key internal partners and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Adaptability and learning: Easily adaptable to changing environments and open to continuous learning and development.
  • Technical skills (optional): Experience with analytics and data tools such as Python, R, SQL, and other relevant technologies.
  • Innovation and initiative: A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation in research processes and methodologies.

  • Proficiency in crafting well-structured research reports, thought pieces, and trend analyses.
  • Understanding of relevant regulatory and compliance frameworks that impact industry dynamics and credit risk.
