You are applying to be a member of a Data Engineering team and have an interest and some knowledge of data lakes, data pipelines, data warehousing and Business Intelligence tools. You are responsible for being an effective part of a software development team and contributing throughout the software development lifecycle. You are self-motivated professional, with a strong technical foundation and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and programming languages. You work with colleagues to understand overall goals and requirements and can provide solutions that meet or exceed expectations.

What you will do:
  • As a member of a Data Engineering team you will work primarily on building and maintaining data ingestion, data transformation, data warehousing, data quality and data visualization solutions using services such as AWS Glue, AWS RDS, AWS Redshift, Tableau and Databricks.

  • Architect, design and deliver high-quality code independently by following Bloomberg INDG best practices. 

  • Understand and make well-reasoned design decisions and tradeoffs in your area; able to work in other areas of the codebase with guidance. 

  • Diagnose and fix production issues. 

  • Communicate with the development lead to raise issues and identify potential barriers in a timely fashion.

  • Build enterprise applications at-scale using demonstrated expertise in computer science fundamentals.

  • Develop clean code to accomplish project goals that is scalable, high availability, and performant, leveraging knowledge of Programming, Infrastructure as Code, Networking, and Information Security.  

  • Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned. 

You need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.   

  • At least 1 year of software development experience and/or commensurate skills building commercial applications with modern software engineering practices.  

  • Demonstrated record of successfullyparticipatingin distributed software delivery teams using Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps practices.  

  • Knowledge of cloud technologies i.e. AWS, Serverless, Event Driven Architecture, SOA, MicroServices, Microfrontend, CI/CD, Infrastructure as code, and other modern technologies. 

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, architecture/design patterns, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
