PandaDoc seeks a passionate and experienced Vice President of Engineering to lead our engineering strategy and execution for our engineering experience in the Customer Value Track. 
The VP of Engineering will play a pivotal role in aligning our engineering and business strategies, improving the adoption of core functionality, and strengthening the connection between our engineering team and other departments. We are looking for a new teammate who will be an expert in the craft of engineering management, with the ability to inspire and guide a growing team of 6 Engineering Managers and Directors. The role will be reporting directly to the Senior VP of Engineering.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and scale the engineering organization through strategic hiring, mentoring, and development of engineering managers and directors while establishing clear accountability frameworks and succession plans.
  • Drive technical vision and strategy by translating business objectives into comprehensive engineering roadmaps, ensuring alignment with company goals and maintaining focus on delivery excellence.
  • Establish and optimize engineering processes, including CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud infrastructure, while implementing best practices for security, scalability, and reliability.
  • Partner with Product leadership to define and execute product strategy, ensuring engineering efforts directly contribute to customer value delivery and core feature adoption.
  • Develop and track key engineering metrics and KPIs across teams, focusing on quality, velocity, and customer impact while using data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams (Product, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success) to ensure effective collaboration and alignment on priorities.
  • Champion customer-centric engineering practices by incorporating customer feedback into technical decisions and prioritizing initiatives that enhance user experience and satisfaction.
  • Manage engineering budget and resources effectively, making strategic decisions about technology investments, team structure, and development priorities.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and technical excellence while maintaining a balanced approach to addressing technical debt and platform stability.

About you:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Engineering, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience leading Engineering Managers and Directors, fostering growth and accountability.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate teams, driving engagement and performance and experience in scaling teams, hiring top talent, and succession planning.
  • Ability to translate business objectives into engineering roadmaps and actionable plans.
  • Experience working closely with Product, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success teams to ensure customer-centric solutions.
  • Strong experience in aligning engineering efforts with customer value delivery and core feature adoption.
  • Understanding of product-driven development, balancing innovation with technical debt, and having a metrics-driven approach to measure and improve engineering impact on business outcomes (e.g., adoption, retention).
  • Experience in building, launching, and operating successful engineer strategies in a SaaS environment.
  • Deep understanding of software development processes, cloud architectures, and scalable systems.
  • Ability to guide architectural decisions and engineering excellence without micromanaging.
  • Experience implementing engineering KPIs (velocity, quality, uptime, lead time) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong focus on operational efficiency, process automation, and cost optimization.
  • Ability to scale engineering processes and governance without introducing bureaucracy.
