UX/UI Designer

We are looking for a UX/UI Designer who will be responsible for liaising with the business and technical teams and analysing, documenting, reviewing, and designing user interfaces on applications across a range of platforms and devices with a strong focus on consistency, performance, brand, and user experience. There will also be a strong focus on implementing and maintaining UI standards across all the development functions whilst ensuring solutions ultimately meet those requirements.

The role is also responsible for ensuring that the business is at the forefront of technologies and product usability where applicable.

The Operations department identifies business needs and solutions, manages technology infrastructure and support, customises and integrates Dynamics 365 to optimise processes, and enhances digital experiences through design and research. Together, we ensure that the organisation’s systems and services are efficient, effective, and user-friendly.

• Review and analyse current systems to gain not only a technical understanding but also how this system is used and integrated within the business.
• Ensuring all our users, both internal and external are at the centre of the design process.
• Working on low-fidelity wireframes to demonstrate early ideas and concepts to the department and wider business.
• Produce high-fidelity, production-ready UI designs with a focus on consistency, usability, and simplicity of design.
• Prototyping to demonstrate the users' needs and to assist the BA team in the creation of business requirements and high-quality designs to show finished products.
• Working closely with UX Lead to peer review designs and ideas in their early stages.
• Demonstrate the thought and approach behind design decisions taken to a diverse range of individuals with varying levels of technical understanding and expertise.
• Where appropriate demonstrate the rationale behind design approaches using a variety of user research and testing methods.
• Work alongside the web and application developers to ensure the feasibility, scope, and implementation of designs
• Creating UX documentation such as sitemaps, user flows, and customer journey maps together with user research documentation depending on the project.
• Produce technical UI or functional specifications where appropriate.
• Be adaptable to designing for different platforms, operating systems, and all device types. Ensuring all design solutions are responsive or adaptable where necessary.
• Conduct thorough reviews of user interfaces in multiple platforms to ensure all designs render correctly and systems function properly, incorporating feedback from actual potential users as well as members of the design team.
• Collaborate with end users of applications, including internal and external customers, to determine user needs, areas of user friction and opportunities to improve our applications and systems.
• Presenting ideas for system improvements and challenging existing technologies and methodologies where appropriate and identifying any potential cost or time-saving.
• Liaise with the Marketing team to ensure any material created that is publicly viewable meets the Marketing team’s requirements, CBS or manufacturer brand guidelines and strategy.
• Be adaptable to working with different project or process frameworks and methodologies including elements or hybrid approaches of Agile and Waterfall depending on the needs and requirements of the project.
• Comply with project plans, business goals and industry standards and best practices.
• Undertaking R&D and Investigating new technologies and processes in and around disciples on Design, UX and UI.

Essential

• Demonstratable UX/UI design experience showcased in a portfolio that displays the range of your design skills.

• Ability to work in line with CBS Core Values of pride, integrity, accountability, continuous improvement, and enjoyment.
• Be passionate about design and usability.
• Experience with UI design tools such as Figma Adobe XD or Sketch.
• Knowledge and commercial experience of other tools and technologies that aid the UX and UI design process and team collaboration.
• Experience and knowledge of key UX/UI design principles and utilization for both web and mobile applications.
• Understanding how to keep accessibility at the forefront of your design work.
• Experience with web technologies from purely a design perspective, including TypeScript/JavaScript, BootStrap, HTML, CSS.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and build relationships across multiple roles/levels and manage stakeholders and internal customers.
• Ability to work in a reactive environment whilst dealing with competing priorities and motivated by a positive “can do” attitude
• Strong analytical skills, oral and written communication

Desirable

• Degree related to Design, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
• Understanding how to use Google Analytics, Power BI dashboards and reports and other analytic tools to produce insights and drive design work.
• An understanding of front-end coding and development technologies and how this affects the design process.
• Basic understanding of the automotive and/or financial services industry.
• Agile methodologies and process.

• £30,000 – £40,000 per annum
• 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday
• Hybrid working, 4 days from home after probation
