At AQA, our Unit Award Scheme (UAS) is expanding, and with more schools and educators using our resources, we need a Unit Development Coordinator to maintain and enhance our Unit Library. You’ll ensure that every unit meets our rigorous writing criteria, keeping content up to date, relevant and engaging for educators and learners. If you are naturally curious, you'll enjoy learning about different units of learning as they come through, seeing the variety of subjects and skills being developed.

Summary
The Unit Development Coordinator is responsible for supporting the upkeep of all the UAS units that are located in a library on the AQA website. The library is our main resource and it is essential to keep it up to date, relevant and topical, so that teachers can use it effectively with their learners. This role reports directly to the Unit Development Manager, with whom they work closely to maintain the Unit Writing Criteria, ensuring it is applied consistently to every newly written and amended unit in order to uphold a high standard of quality and rigour in the UAS product. In addition, the team work with subject experts to write new suites of units inhouse.UAS is expanding its operational and customer base in line with a 5-year investment programme. Greater external awareness and visibility of UAS is leading to increasing registrations year on year. With more and more customers using the scheme, this is generating a need for greater numbers of bespoke units for validation and wider opportunities to develop unit suites.
UAS is a customer facing team. This role works directly with the Unit Development Manager and in turn they work closely with the rest of the UAS team to provide expert customer support and guidance on all aspects of the Scheme. UAS also works closely with teams across Customer and Product, in particular Sales, Marketing and Curriculum.
Activities:
Provide expertise in the validation of all UAS units by consistently applying the rigorous unit writing (UW) criteria to all the amended and new units written by teachers each month. The role will be responsible for the consistent application of the standard necessary so that each unit provides a worthwhile and valid educational experience for students, before it can then be added to the external online Unit Library: a resource accessed and used by all teachers delivering UAS.
Maintain the 6-8 week customer service level agreement on unit validation, whilst at the same time ensuring a high quality of written unit through rigorous application of the UWC.
Responsible for flagging to the Development Manager any units that don’t meet the UWC; and offering advice and guidance to teachers to enable them to resubmit units that meet the accepted standard.
Take part in training and standardisation of UAS staff on a regular basis to ensure the UAS team consistently apply the UWC and adhere to the unit validation process.
Maintain an up-to-date, relevant and topical unit library by carrying out regular reviews of units and retiring those that are no longer used or contain outdated outcomes and subject content, as directed by the Unit Development Manager.
Work with subject experts, as directed, to create suites of units mapped to AQA qualifications, as well as other educational initiatives or programmes of learning, including updating the units mapped to qualifications at times of reform.
Keep up to date with education policy and reform and support the Unit Development Manager to ensure the unit library reflects current initiatives and requirements.
Support the running of unit writing workshops to train teachers new to UAS and in order to promote UAS at conference and events.
Responsible for collecting accurate and timely data and updates on unit usage and trends that contributes to a monthly report on unit usage for analysis by the Head of UAS and Unit Development Manager.
Demonstrate and model the appropriate AQA values and behaviours, eg a collaborative, team player, developing and managing self, in order to deliver excellent customer service.
Where business needs change, undertake other responsibilities which are of a commensurate level outside the terms of this role profile.
To be successful in this role, you will need to know how to:
Apply a specific set of criteria against outcomes (making up a unit of learning) written by teachers, confidently applying the rules of spelling, punctuation and grammar in order to ensure an excellent standard of quality.
Put customers front and centre every time, going the extra mile to meet their needs.
Deliver strong IT proficiency in a range of reporting, data processing and analysis tools such as CRM, Excel, Dynamics, PowerBi and Quartz (inhouse software system).
Build exceptional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, in order to consistently deliver a best in class service that meets our customers’ needs.
Be results focused with a ‘step up’ mindset to be able deliver at pace and with accuracy.
Work independently as well as contribute effectively to the team.
Manage and prioritise a busy workload.
