About The Role

The Technical Project Manager (TPM) role within the Motive Hardware organization is a role intended for those individuals who are willing to take total ownership of change management to improve in market products and drive them to  successful completion. The TPM will lead and coordinate the contributions of a wide variety of internal and external hardware, software and firmware teams to deliver projects on time, on budget and within specification. The TPM will aid individual groups in creating and tracking build and test plans and respond to product issues found during testing and use in the field. As the product matures, the TPM will aid the go-to-market process, helping organization prepare for the certification, cost optimization and international launch of the product.


What You’ll Do

  • Prepare formal project plans including schedules and deliverables, including those from the vendors, hardware, firmware and other teams as needed.
  • Administer a formal review process to validate each development phase has completed successfully, and the product is ready for the next phase
  • Lead core team meeting to monitor progress of projects and report status, plans, and issues and recommendations  to management
  • Develop and implement strategies to proactively minimize schedule and technical risk
  • Validate that test plans are complete and that testing is completed successfully with clear understanding of gaps if any
  • Respond to issues that develop during the project by coordinating resolution amongst multiple groups in region and across geographies
  • Coach engineers, Product Managers and leads on effective processes and best practices to improve the PDP process and create checklists for areas that need to be improved.

What We’re Looking For

    • 5+ years of experience in the development and management of end to end products including firmware.
    • Experience should include project scheduling, resource allocation, task management, risk management, budgeting and negotiating with stakeholders to create trade off decision matrices. Successful launch of complex embedded products and in market sustaining to drive yield and cost improvements.  
    • Experience managing projects that include multiple teams at multiple sites
    • Experience leading meetings and managing outsourced vendors to deliver hardware, firmware and software projects.
    • Ability to lead without authority and prioritize effectively in ambiguous situations and as business needs are adjusted
    • Capacity to work in a fast paced, continuously changing environment and manage multiple projects of various scopes at once
