We make health happen
Working in our Group function you’ll play a key part in helping our customer facing colleagues deliver exceptional standards of customer service and patient care not just in the UK but around the globe.
No matter your role, you’ll have an opportunity to do work that matters. Making a difference to the lives of our customers each and every day, by helping shape the strategic direction of our business around the world.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Technical and Data Analyst (TDA) to join our small, but talented, Group Data in One Click (DOC) Analytics Team within Group Functions Technology (GFT). The team’s main objective is to support our Group Functions teams with their advanced analytics goals.
We already have a strong Analytics Product, hosted on our Google Cloud Platform (GCP), that offers advanced analytics capability using Python and SQL, with a direct connection into PowerBI for our stakeholder’s visualisation requirements.
Data is trending, and at Bupa we want to utilise and develop our Analytics Product to accelerate the importance of data across our stakeholders’. The role of the TDA will be pivotal in supporting Bupa Group Functions and helping the Analytics Product Owner define and deliver future developments of the Analytics Product, ensuring our stakeholders can drive meaningful insight and deliver business value.
How you’ll help us make health happen
• Be the data analysis expert and developer for DOC Analytics. They will be used to using methodical investigation and design thinking to identify, shape and deliver value, working with the wider Product team on the most important challenges and opportunities.
• Be known for delivery. Own the end-to-end delivery of advanced analytics solutions within the DOC Analytics Product. Focus on the value and getting things done.
• Develop code that meets the needs of a highly-regulated organisation. The TDA will write code in line with current best practice, be comfortable taking challenge on their approach and designs, and deliver reliable solutions that our stakeholders trust.
• Define the problem, develop user stories (including the breakdown of work) and shape and
constructively challenge the product owner and stakeholder requirements.
• Work in an agile manner as part of the team, using design thinking, breaking work into small increments, and building out patterns and processes that can be repeated.
• Present back to our stakeholders, demonstrating work-in-progress and articulating feedback and progress clearly.
What you'll bring
• Proven experience of working with SQL and Python as part of a technical delivery team is a minimum requirement for this role.
• Strong experience of developing visualisations, preferably in PowerBI.
• Experience of analytical work within GCP (and more broad experience in GCP) is advantageous.
• Data management experience, inc. data analysis, continuous improvement of data quality and standards. Understanding what we must do to protect both Bupa and customer data is a must.
• Experience and track-record of delivering within agile methodologies.
• Experience in acceptance and outcome criteria gathering and translation to user stories.
• Numerate with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Excellent standard of written and presentation skills with proficiency of working in Azure DevOps, Jira or similar.
• Experience of collaborating with a wide range of senior business and technology leaders to achieve outcomes.
• Strong influencing skills across stakeholders, colleagues and external vendors.
• Skills in ‘R’ would be a nice-to-have, but far from essential.
