ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are looking for an Tax Operations Analyst to join the Apex Silver Tax and Wealth Management Team. Apex Silver is a leading provider of business and technology solutions for the investment services industry. Our employees apply decades of securities industry and software development experience along with a passion for solving real-world problems. Our strategic partners provide complementary services, software, and market data to enhance our solutions. The Silver team delivers cost-effective brokerage operations, cost basis reporting and wealth management solutions for our clients.
Duties/Responsibilities
Ensure accuracy of cost basis processing and tax reporting data
Research and resolve investment account reconciliation breaks
Research and resolve investment account processing exceptions
Analyse and communicate processing results and trends
Assisting and supporting with the testing and implementation of system enhancements and functionality.
Monitor and enforce service level agreements (SLA’s) to maintain high standards of performance
Tax year-end reporting, including Form 1099/1042S, as well as filing returns 945/1042
Recommend and help implement process improvements and software usability enhancements
Conduct research on corporate actions, payment allocations of mutual funds, and US federal tax ramifications of structured product instruments via company news releases, SEC EDGAR filings, and data interface provided by the third party vendors.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in related field (or equivalent practical experience) required
3+ years of prior work experience in a similar role
Experience with US tax reporting / understanding of US Withholding for foreign persons and 1042-S reporting is a plus
Experience with SQL and/or advanced Excel skills a plus
Required Skills/Abilities
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Self motivated and able to work independently (certifications will be required within job role)
Work Environment
This job operates in a hybrid, office environment 3 days per week.
