About the role


The Strategic Client Partnerships Lead (SCPL) is a newly established position at Avalere Health that will play a critical role in the company’s growth. Responsible for leading the growth strategy, planning and execution for several of the company’s top clients, the SCPL will operate as a partner with our clients and collaborate extensively with teams across the Avalere Health organization at all levels to generate growth.


This is a commercial leadership position that requires a strategic thinker with a solutions mindset, seeking out clients’ needs and supporting the development of highly compelling solutions/proposals for those needs. You must be passionate about making a meaningful difference to the level and strength of partnership we can create with our clients through win-win engagements. Skilled in building deep and lasting relationships with key client leaders is a critical requirement and needed for quickly identifying both organic opportunities to grow existing work and lateral opportunities to expand our relationships into new areas (e.g., additional brands, therapeutic areas, functional areas). Likewise, it is essential that the SCPL can use Avalere Health’s executive leaders to establish lasting senior-level relationships with client stakeholders.


The SCPL will play a key role in partnering with capability/business unit leaders to develop and deliver proposals and pitches, guiding teams in a proposal/pitch win-strategy with a proven ability to develop differentiated solution proposals and presentations paired with effective storytelling. Success will also rely on ability to forge effective networks internally and externally and be the go-to for guidance on expanding relationships, responding to business/commercial related requests, and best practices for managing client procurement teams. 

What you'll do

  • Develop strategic growth plans for named priority clients to support all capabilities across Avalere Health (Consulting & Advisory, Medical Communications, Marketing, Health Economics, Evidence Generation, Policy, Pipeline Advisory Services, Learning and Development, Market Access, and Asset Commercialization), ensuring an integrated and cohesive approach to growth to every extent possible.
  • Develop senior level client relationships and networks working with and supporting capability teams to ensure the continued success of existing client relationships, brands, and accounts.
  • Work with all capability leadership teams to strategize, identify, pursue, and convert business opportunities for key target areas.
  • Work in lockstep with the capability commercial leadership and the Commercial Finance Director on pricing, negotiations, contractual terms and conditions, incentive strategy, and management, etc.
  • Partner and lead with teams, as required, to lead and execute proposals and pitch presentations for organic growth/new business opportunities. 

About you

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development or growth roles within the life sciences industry.
  • Effectively led growth in a multiple service setting, driving business expansion with clients across several service areas (e.g., Marketing and Medical, Marketing and Market Access, Commercial Consulting and Learning/Education, etc.).
  • Proven track record of driving both organic growth and new business development and consistently achieving multi-million-dollar sales targets (e.g., $8-$10 million annually).
  • Highly credible with a clear understanding of our client market environment and all our associated Capabilities/services.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
