This role is ideal for a strategic expert who understands the unique security challenges facing organizations in these sectors and can deliver actionable insights to help CIOs protect their organizations from evolving cyber threats.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as an authority on cybersecurity strategy for CIOs in high-risk industries around the globe, guiding clients on best practices for defending against cyber threats, data breaches, and emerging attack vectors.
  • Deliver research and recommendations on cybersecurity governance, risk management frameworks, and advanced cybersecurity technologies.
  • Analyze industry trends, threat intelligence, and technology disruptions (e.g., quantum computing, agentic commerce) to forecast future risks and inform strategic planning.
  • Present cybersecurity research and thought leadership in 1-to-1 conversations and at Gartner events, webinars, and client workshops, engaging with C-suite executives and technology leaders.
  • Support clients in evaluating and selecting cybersecurity vendors and solutions tailored to the unique needs of high-risk industries.
  • Collaborate with other Gartner Analysts to develop comprehensive, actionable research that addresses the top cybersecurity priorities of CIOs in these sectors.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity leadership roles within high-risk industries with at least 3 years in a technology leadership role. Strong preference for experience in Financial Services.
  • Proven track record advising CIOs and C-suite executives on cybersecurity strategy, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape and compliance requirements for high-risk industries.
  • Experience with vendor selection and technology evaluation for cybersecurity solutions is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the writing abilities to create an on-going portfolio of published cybersecurity research for the role of CIO. Fluency in English is required; additional languages are a plus.
  • Confident presenter, able to engage audiences from one-on-one executive briefings to large-scale conferences.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize technology, business, and threat trends to identify patterns, and deliver clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in a global, cross-functional environment.
