The Role

We are an innovative AI technology company in the heart of Manchester, looking to appoint a Solutions Engineer to join our team. As a Solutions Engineer you will play a key role in projects and be responsible for the design of solutions to various real-world problems.

The solutions team’s purpose is to take a complicated requirement, determine what AI is required to solve it, specify the models required, and produce the overall solution that solves the problem.  Most importantly this needs to work in a customer environment, not just on paper, in a demo or a lab environment.

The role of a solutions engineer is to take the basic AI model output and put it to use to solve real world problems by taking the inference and adding additional processing to provide the output to solve the problem at hand.  An example would be to detect a person, and an object they are interacting with and determine that the interaction satisfies some criteria.   Based on this, a subsequent event or alert would be triggered.

We have a dedicated models team that would develop any ML models that we required, so an expert level of Machine Learning is not essential, but a good understanding of what a model does, and how to run inference and interpret the results is required.

The Company

Some of the world’s largest brands depend on SeeChange AI solutions. We enable Enterprise clients to optimise their business and solve real world problems using our AI powered Computer Vision. We exist to create something of real value, guided by solid principles and driven by the belief that technology serves people – not the other way around.

This is a great opportunity to join a young vibrant start-up in the heart of Manchester, working at the forefront of edge-to-cloud AI solutions, bringing insight to every video sensor.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of a Solutions Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with the product team to understand the requirements for a new use case and work out suitable solutions to the problem.
  • Work with the models team to specify what new or changed ML models are required to provide the foundation of the solution
  • Build on top of the developing model, additional logic to interpret, combine or otherwise enhance the information provided to the model
  • Test out the overall end to end solution to ensure it successfully solves the problem, and work to deploy it in a real-life customer environment

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Solutions Engineer:

  • A good understanding of Machine Learning and Deep Learning concepts, different model types and how to run inference on them. These are principally computer vision models.
  • Experience with Deep Learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or OpenVino
  • Strong programming skills in Python and in particularly in an ML/CV environment (Numpy, OpenCV)
  • Good understanding of Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Git processes and CI/CD in particular
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral and aa positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • A strong customer and real world focus and a desire to see their solutions working in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of GPU acceleration and optimisation
