The Solution Architect at Matillion plays a key role in securing the technical win and maximizing ACV with prospective enterprise customers.  This role is responsible for qualifying customer use cases, demonstrating how Matillion’s solutions solve their challenges, managing software trials, and driving business value through the platform. The Solution Architect is a consultative and adaptable team player who combines solution selling, technical expertise, and a customer-centric approach to engage in high-level technical discussions and foster long-term customer relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities will include:

  • Discovering Customer Requirements:
  • Diagnose technical and business pain, confirming root causes and negative consequences.
  • Engage key stakeholders to confirm desired future state, mapping it to success metrics and business outcomes.
  • Support customer digital sales rooms, providing technical input and ensuring alignment between sales and technical teams.
  • Qualifying Use Cases:
  • Deliver tailored demos that align with business issues, decision criteria, and outcomes.
  • Articulate how our platform solves customer challenges, differentiate against competitors, and verify with real-world proof points.
  • Validating Solution Fit:
  • Lead workshops or trials to validate solution fit with business objectives.
  • Position competitive advantages to influence trial success criteria.
  • Guide customer teams to integrate our solutions into their data stacks during trials while driving measurable business outcomes.
  • Support technical aspects of credit sizing estimates.
  • Customer Onboarding and Growth:
  • Document customer insights during the sales cycle to ensure a smooth handoff to TAMs for successful implementations.
  • Actively support customer cadences and business review meetings ensuring platform adoption, achievement of business goals, and driving customer engagement.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for upselling and expansion, ensuring customers realise value by increasing platform consumption through new workloads and groups
  • Marketing and Thought Leadership
  • Create technical content and case studies that demonstrate how Matillion’s solutions address customer challenges.
  • Represent Matillion as a technical expert at industry events, conferences, and user groups, fostering a strong brand presence.
  • Product Feedback & Improvement
  • Collect and communicate customer feedback to the Product and Engineering teams, ensuring continuous product improvements and alignment with market needs.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in data integration, cloud computing, and data transformation, sharing insights with both customers and internal teams.

About you

  • What we are looking for includes:

  • Essential Criteria
  • 5+ years in a customer-facing technical role, such as Solution Architect, Sales Engineer, or similar.
  • Strong experience in solution selling, demonstrating value through tailored software presentations and overcoming technical objections.
  • Expertise in cloud computing platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and experience with Cloud Data Platforms like Snowflake and Databricks.
  • In-depth understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
  • Hands-on experience with technical problem-solving and integration technologies (APIs, Linux, SQL).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of GenAI

  • Desirable Criteria
  • Experience with Matillion products and competitive ETL solutions.
  • Knowledge of big data technologies (Spark, PySpark), data lakes, and MPP databases (Teradata, Vertica, Netezza).
  • Familiarity with version control tools such as Git, and experience with Python.
  • Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience using Salesforce.
