Job Description
JOB TITLE: Senior Software Engineer
SALARY: £72,702 - £88,858 per annum
LOCATION: Manchester
HOURS: Full-time - 35 hours per week
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.
ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with a track record of delivering high-quality work to join our team in Manchester, UK. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll play a critical role in building the bank of the future.
Key responsibilities include:
Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software solutions that meet business needs
Work closely with colleagues from different areas to capture and analyse requirements and determine technical feasibility
Lead the development and implementation of complex software applications
Maintain code quality and follow coding standards
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
Lead with debugging and analysis of production incidents
Mentor and coach junior engineers, encouraging a culture of learning and continuous improvement
What you'll need:
Extensive experience as a Senior Software Engineer or in a similar role
Extensive understanding of software development principles with experience of building highly observable and scalable solutions
Proficiency in React is a must, with additional knowledge of Java, Node.js or Python an additional advantage.
Hands-on experience of either GCP, Azure or AWS – and experience of cloud-native architecture & containerisation (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, Helm)
Familiarity with Agile principles & practices including scrum methodology and associated tools such as Jira
Detailed understanding of software testing methodologies and practices
Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills
Effective collaboration and relationship-building capabilities
An awareness and understanding of emerging trends and technologies such as Generative AI, Large Language models & Agentic Architecture/ AI Agents.
An understanding of networking – preferably including a mixture of public cloud & on-premise infrastructure
