This is a UK-based role. You will be required to interview in person.

About SailPoint

SailPoint is defining the next era of identity security. Our unified, AI-powered platform seamlessly secures both the Human Fabric of your workforce and the Agentic Fabric of AI and non-human identities, completely eliminating organizational blind spots.

Built on core principles like zero-standing privilege and contextualized risk, our platform transforms identity from a vulnerability into a strategic business advantage. Today, we are trusted by some of the largest, most complex organizations in the world to deliver intelligent, autonomous identity security at scale.

About the role

As a Software Engineer on the Platform Engineering team, you will design, build, and run mission-critical platform services that enable applications to define policies, make real-time decisions, and react dynamically to changes across millions of identities in our Identity Graph.

In a typical day, you will write high-performance Golang code, develop robust full-stack features using Angular on the frontend, and implement resilient microservices deployed on AWS. You will collaborate closely with distributed team members, partner with data scientists on AI-driven features, and optimize distributed cloud architectures for low-millisecond latency.

About the team

You will join one of our UK Platform Engineering teams dedicated to designing, building, and operating core services for SailPoint's Identity Security Cloud. We are a collaborative group of backend and UI specialists transitioning to full-stack feature ownership. We value knowledge sharing, high code quality, and regular collaboration, meeting in person once per quarter for a one- to two-day team offsite.

Roadmap for success

30 days:

  • Complete SailPoint engineering onboarding, configure your development environment, and obtain repository access.

  • Review architectural documentation for the Identity Graph and policy engine to understand domain concepts and platform standards.

  • Shadow teammates during sprint ceremonies, design discussions, and code reviews.

  • Deliver and merge your first Golang pull request with comprehensive unit tests.

60 days:

  • Build and deploy your first end-to-end microservice feature within the policy engine.

  • Write robust unit and integration tests adhering to platform code coverage standards.

  • Participate actively in peer code reviews, offering actionable feedback.

  • Familiarize yourself with monitoring dashboards, alerting systems, and on-call runbooks.

6 months:

  • Independently deliver scalable, full-stack platform features using Golang and Angular.

  • Partner with the Data Science team to integrate AI-related features into policy decision workflows.

  • Join the primary 24x7 on-call rotation (approximately one week in 20) to support platform availability and reliability.

  • Identify and implement automated CI/CD pipeline improvements to accelerate release cycles.

1 year:

  • Lead technical design and implementation for high-throughput, low-latency microservices handling millions of identity access requests.

  • Mentor team members and champion engineering best practices across microservices architecture and cloud infrastructure.

  • Drive performance tuning initiatives across distributed cloud databases such as DynamoDB, Aurora, or Snowflake.

  • Contribute to architectural roadmaps and technical strategy for core platform initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in related field, or equivalent professional experience

  • 2+ years of professional software development experience

  • Proven backend development experience with Golang building scalable microservices and SaaS solutions

  • Frontend experience with Angular or modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks

  • Strong understanding of automated testing practices, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, along with debugging proficiencies

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and distributed cloud data stores (e.g., DynamoDB, Aurora, Snowflake)

  • Experience working with CI/CD tools and pipelines such as Jenkins or CloudBees

  • Ability to participate in a scheduled 24x7 on-call support rotation (approximately 1 week in 20)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, growth-oriented mindset

The Tech Stack

  • Backend: Golang, Microservices

  • Frontend: Angular, TypeScript

  • Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS, CI/CD (CloudBees / Jenkins)

  • Databases: Amazon DynamoDB, Aurora, Snowflake

AI-assisted engineering:
Our engineers are expected to use AI development tools as a core part of their daily workflow, not as a novelty. We expect you to use these tools to accelerate delivery, expand your scope, and raise the quality bar, while applying strong engineering judgment to review, validate, and own everything that ships under your name. Comfort with prompting, agentic workflows, and human-in-the-loop review of AI-generated code is a baseline expectation for this role.
AI related Technology:
  • Cursor, Claude Code

  • Python-based AI/ML frameworks and libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas, and numpy

  • Deep Learning Frameworks such as PyTorch

  • LLMs and Foundation Models in Bedrock, VertexAI, or similar
