Java Software Engineer (Research & Innovation)

Thales Netherlands B.V. is an important supplier of Radar Systems and Combat Management Systems for the defense industry. These systems can be considered as mission critical that need to remain operational during the mission. 

Advanced research is applied in order to investigate and test innovative ideas which also lowers the risks during the production phase. Advanced research includes a variety of topics such as hardware (e.g. command information center, consoles, security & safety) as well as software related to the development of new capabilities.

A key area of interest is our Maritime Security Operation (MSO) capability which is focused on data collection and analysis using AI technology in order to improve situational awareness, understanding and prediction. For this area we are interested in a software engineer that is able to assist during the integration of AI based technology into the MSO software capability.

ABOUT THE JOB

As a Software Engineer you contribute to a self-organizing Agile/Scrum team. In addition to software product development, teams are fully responsible for various aspects, such as requirements analysis, architecture, design, testing, validation and demonstrations. The use of high-tech techniques and software development methods is important. The software is mainly based on Java and is supported by a modern development environment.

You will work with the following tools and techniques:

  • Agile/Scrum software development
  • Java, Scala, Linux, IntelliJ
  • Continuous Integration & Delivery
  • Jenkins, Nexus, Maven, GIT, BitBucket
  • Unit Testing (Junit), Test Automation, Cucumber

About you
