Job summary:
The Site Engineering Manager will lead efforts to optimize manufacturing efficiency, lean manufacturing, utilization and introduction of new products into the factory. In this role, the Engineering Manager will use their knowledge of various manufacturing processes, materials and analysis techniques to select, develop and optimize manufacturing methods and tools, for maximum safety, quality, delivery and cost through Greene Tweed’s manufacturing process. The Engineering Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to define and communicate capabilities, evaluate new opportunities, and provide technical solutions to manufacturing challenges.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:  

  • Daily management of manufacturing engineers, CNC programmers, Automation Engineers, and process improvement engineers, process development engineers, and other technical team members to support manufacturing in meeting site objectives.
  • Provide leadership in the identification and implementation of new and improved manufacturing processes and standards using TPS tools including, but not limited to: TPM, Kaizen events, process design, and process layout, 6S efforts, etc.
  • Resolve disposition of material and compound that does not meet specifications. Conduct root cause analysis and address appropriate corrective action to improve process reliability and product quality.
  • Drive the NPD stage gate process for introduction of new parts and materials into manufacturing. This includes the integration of all support processes required for optimal transition.
  • In conjunction with Quality and Application Engineering, develop, document, and maintain process control specifications for key process characteristics. Provide production with a reliable, robust production process that yields repeatable, statistically controlled results.
  • Manage the deployment of the Industry 4.0 efforts at the site; including the advanced manufacturing automation team, design of MES platform, and Operational Technology digitization project portfolio.
  • Play an integral role in managing CAPEX projects from initiation to commercialization.
  • Lead successful commercialization of new material and parts transition into the manufacturing process
  • Assess current and long-term skills and gaps to ensure employees maintain technical skill sets through training and development plans.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and evaluation of individual and team performance / contributions, documenting during performance reviews and annual calibrations.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Education/Certifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Master’s Degree preferred

Skills and Experience: 

  • A minimum of 10 years in a Manufacturing related role - preferably in processes relevant to GTC manufacturing processes and technologies. 
  • Demonstrated results in use of Toyota Production System (TPS) and Six Sigma methodologies; Lean Practitioner or Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
  • Proven ability to develop and motivate people
  • Experience in digital technologies and working knowledge of Industry 4.0
  • Advanced working knowledge of CNC programming software such as Mastercam, Solidworks, Edgecam or similar (Preferred)
  • Statistical analysis software knowledge, Minitab or similar (Preferred)
