The role

In this role you will support the team to provide finance support to the Executive Team, the Finance Leadership Team and others to understand allocations of functional costs via service fees, total cost of ownership metrics and FinOps.

You’ll help us make health happen by

  • Building out total Cost of Ownership activities
  • Reporting and forecasting TCO metrics: Current cost of services across the functions historical trends, and future impact of transformation programmes
  • Using Technology Business Management to build a framework with consistent methodology to record an appropriate granularity of costs to enable customer understanding of cost drivers and influenceable costs
  • Deliver insightful analysis and reporting on Cloud costs by working closely with FinOps and our Technology function to enable informed decision-making, optimisation of Cloud spend, and leveraging native Cloud data to enrich TCO across Technology and other Functions
  • Regular tracking of contract and license usage of c£80m – and communications to Businesses to enable decision making
  • Build an understanding of the BGIUK IT estate including centrally held functional costs, locally held, shadow tech and internal recoveries and recharges models. Provide support and analysis to challenge further consistency and operational efficiency in the tech estate
  • Provide proactive financial support by understanding MU and functional strategy, interlinks with transformation activity and BAU, performing financial modelling including investment appraisals and scenario modelling. Specifically monitoring change and transformation activities to profile future TCO
  • Be financially accountable for advising and educating functional leaders on the principles of TCO and fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and cost efficiency within our Cloud environment

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role

  • Hold a professional accountancy qualification – ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in industry or practice within finance roles; business partnering, Financial Analysis, planning/forecasting, FinOps, Management accounting and Financial Reporting
  • Business Partnering experience to an Senior Leadership Team level – confident to present analytics and options, robustly challenge, holds an inquisitive mindset and strong understanding of corporate functions
  • Advanced reporting skills, experience developing custom reporting, dashboards, and visuals
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing services, including cloud infrastructure, software, and platform as a service (IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS).
  • Working knowledge of third-party or cloud-native cloud cost reporting products and tools (e.g., Cloudability, Azure Cost Management & Billing). Understanding of public cloud provider billing methods and concepts.
