The Windows/Mac Products team at Datadog, part of the Networks & Endpoints group, is dedicated to delivering a best-in-class observability experience with the Datadog Agent for both Windows and macOS, while establishing them as first-class platforms across all Datadog products, such as Network Performance Monitoring (NPM), Universal Service Monitoring (USM), and a range of emerging and next-generation observability tools. We advocate for Windows and macOS users; whether managing servers, endpoints, or hybrid environments; by developing innovative observability, monitoring, and security collection capabilities to support the key services and technologies our customers rely on. We work collaboratively across the company to expand these offerings. Our mission is to provide robust, out-of-the-box observability solutions by enriching Datadog products tailored for Windows and macOS; ensuring feature parity, deep visibility, and operational excellence across every layer of the stack; without requiring the deployment of additional agents or libraries.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

  • Leverage macOS native system technologies to design and build comprehensive observability features integrated with the macOS platform; including System Extensions, Endpoint Security Framework, Network Extensions, Unified Logging, and launch daemons;
  • Own new feature development end-to-end from ideation to implementation
  • Solve unique challenges at the intersection of system programming, distributed telemetry, and endpoint observability & security
  • Investigate performance bottlenecks and write optimized resource-efficient software
  • Be a driving force in product decisions and plan the most important projects to work on next with your team
  • Mentor other engineers and drive technical direction across macOS initiatives

Who You Are:

  • You have been building applications and tooling for 5+ years and know the systems you’ve worked on in depth
  • You’ve experience building and shipping software that runs on macOS
  • You’ve hands on experience with native macOS APIs; such as EndpointSecurity, launchd, mach, sysctl, os_log, or System/Network Extensions; and have designed systems that comply with Apple’s platform requirements
  • You have strong macOS internals knowledge, with a thorough understanding of system architecture and runtime behavior
  • You have significant experience in one or more languages: C/C++, Objective C and/or Swift
  • You have proven ability to own and deliver features in a fast-paced, high-growth environment to build new products
  • You are motivated by solving problems for our customers first and foremost and building beautiful products that our customers love
