Job Description

As a Senior Software Developer, you will build and maintain the core infrastructure and tools that empower our development teams to deliver high-quality software efficiently and reliably.

The developer platform team forms part of the wider Platform Engineering department and is responsible for delivering solutions designed to streamline and enhance internal development processes through automation, tooling, and visibility.

Our platform developers build high-profile, impactful, and full-stack systems adopted across the wider Business. You will be working primarily with Golang, Python, Typescript and React, in addition to delivering applications across both on-premise and cloud platforms.

You will lead deliveries and focus on the mentoring and development of Junior Software Developers in the team. Working at the cutting edge of technology, we provide extensive training opportunities to further your professional development. You will be introduced to tools beyond Go and React to support this, such as Splunk, New Relic and GCP.

This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience of developing low latency, highly available, and scalable solutions.
  • Experience working with high volumes of transactions.
  • Previous experience in a senior position and accustomed to mentoring junior team members.
  • Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and familiarity with relevant tools.
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages, such as Golang, Python and Typescript, essential for developing automated process with supporting APIs and frontend tooling.
  • Knowledge of network and security technologies, along with foundational networking principles such as TCP/IP, routing and switching, and firewall configurations.
  • Familiarity with content delivery technologies and principles, including load balancing, caching, and cloud-based services.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, autonomy, and proactivity, enabling effective navigation in technically challenging environments.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, along with experience in change and version control systems.
  • Experience working within a Linux-centric environment.
