Project Manager (Defence)

Location: Haydock, St Helens (minimum of 2 days per week in the office)

Cockermouth, Cumbria (minimum of 2 days per week in the office)

Job type: Permanent / Contract

Contracted hours: Full time – 36hrs per week (we offer an option to condense full time hours into 4 days Monday – Thursday)

About the role

Overview of the role

Delkia is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex engineering projects within our Defence business. The successful candidate will take ownership of projects from initial planning and mobilisation through to delivery and close-out, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required technical, quality and contractual standards.

Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders, you will provide strong project leadership across planning, scheduling, risk, commercial and resource management. You will be comfortable working in a demanding and highly regulated environment, managing competing priorities and ensuring effective communication and governance throughout the project lifecycle. This is an opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to play a key role in the delivery of complex Defence engineering programmes

What you’ll be responsible for

Your main responsibilities will include:

· Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex engineering projects within the Defence sector, from mobilisation through to completion.

· Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, resources, risks, issues and change control.

· Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering, technical, commercial and quality teams to achieve project objectives.

· Manage customer, supplier and stakeholder relationships, acting as a key point of contact throughout delivery.

· Monitor and report project performance against cost, schedule, scope, quality and contractual requirements.

· Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with Defence, safety, quality, regulatory and company requirements.

About you

What you’ll bring

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

· Proven experience managing complex engineering projects within the Defence sector or another highly regulated engineering environment.

· Experience managing projects through the full lifecycle, with strong planning, scheduling, risk and change management skills.

· Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering and technical teams.

· Strong commercial awareness, including experience managing budgets, forecasts, contractual deliverables and project milestones.

· Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers and senior stakeholders.

· A proactive, structured and collaborative approach, with strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Ways of Working

· 36 hours full time working

· Optional 4 day working week (Monday to Thursday)

· Hybrid working for many roles (minimum of 2 days per week on site)
