Role overview:
We are seeking a Product Owner to own and evolve our fraud prevention and customer authentication capabilities across eCommerce. You will be responsible for defining and delivering tools and flows that reduce fraud losses, optimize conversion through intelligent authentication, and meet all compliance obligations across 3DS2, SCA, TRA exemptions, and scheme mandates.
This role combines technical and regulatory depth with a clear commercial mindset – ensuring that our fraud and authentication stack is not only robust, but also merchant-friendly and revenue-aware.
What you will do:
Own Fraud Prevention Capability
Define and prioritize features for Planet’s fraud detection tooling (e.g. scoring engine, rule builder, fraud signals API).
Partner with fraud vendors (e.g. Fraud.net, Accertify, Cybersource) to manage integrations and roadmap dependencies.
Work with data and risk teams to expose real-time fraud metrics to internal tools and merchant-facing portals.
Improve support for soft declines, fraud tagging, chargeback categorization, and case management workflows.
Lead Authentication Product Delivery
Own the configuration and management of 3DS2, including scheme routing, fallback logic, and exemption strategy (e.g. TRA, low-risk, whitelisting).
Define issuer, acquirer, and APM authentication journeys for both card and non-card payment methods.
Collaborate with scheme and compliance teams to ensure ongoing alignment with PSD2, SCA, and local market rules.
Support initiatives around frictionless authentication, device binding, delegated auth, and cardholder recognition logic.
Backlog Management & Delivery
Translate compliance mandates, merchant feedback, and fraud metrics into user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
Own sprint planning and rituals for your fraud/auth squad.
Ensure close alignment between fraud tooling, authentication flows, and gateway transaction routing.
Support readiness for scheme audits, merchant testing, and go-live planning.
Commercial Alignment
Collaborate with commercial and onboarding teams to package fraud/auth as part of merchant offers.
Provide guidance on fraud and authentication settings per merchant segment (long-tail vs enterprise).
Partner with platform billing to ensure all fraud and auth events are trackable and billable where applicable.
Who you are:
5+ years experience in product roles, ideally in payments, fraud, authentication, or risk platforms.
Strong understanding of 3DS2, PSD2 SCA, TRA exemptions, and issuer/acquirer authentication flows.
Experience with fraud tooling, risk scoring, rule engines, or third-party fraud vendors.
Familiarity with chargeback flows, fraud codes, and scheme monitoring thresholds.
Strong stakeholder management – able to navigate engineering, compliance, commercial, and scheme teams.
Skilled in Agile delivery, backlog management, and release planning.
Experience in hospitality or travel verticals where fraud/auth logic is tightly coupled to PMS or delayed fulfilment.
Working knowledge of device fingerprinting, biometrics, or delegated authentication schemes.
Experience using data science-driven fraud signals or risk-based authentication approaches.
Exposure to billing logic for fraud tools (e.g. per txn pricing, scoring tier costs, exemption tracking).
