Responsibilities / Tasks

As a Senior Process Engineer (Pre-Sales & Execution) with a leading engineering and equipment company, you will report to the Head of Process Engineering. Your primary responsibilities will include creating designs, preparing technical and commercial proposals, and overseeing project execution from detailed design to commissioning. In addition to managing smaller projects, you will also provide support and mentorship to junior engineers when needed.

Pre Sales

  • Support sales team with client visits and presentations.

  • Translate the client requirements into technical solutions

  • Process, equipment and piping sizing.

  • Development of enquiry stage P&IDs.

  • Development of key assumptions, execution plan and scope boundaries.      Costing of equipment/components supply.

  • Review, with multiple functions, enquiry documents and obtain clarifications where required.

  • Support multiple functions to prepare their respective scope and costings.

  • Consolidate costs and prepare an overall cost calculation.

  • Consolidate plans and develop an overall execution plan and timeline.

  • Prepare Technical and Commercial Proposals in accordance with defined scopes of supply.

  • Maintain Proposal documentation in line with company procedures and policies to ensure compliance with set requirements & standards.

Performance – Pre Sales

  • Accuracy of designs / costings

  • Accuracy of scope

  • Management of scope gaps

  • Delivery of proposals on agreed times

  • Dealing with multiple proposals

  • Design Recycle / Fast turn around

Execution

  • Support project manager with client visits and presentations.

  • Support the project manager with change control and scope variations.

  • Produce designs for P&IDs, Equipment Lists, Datasheets, Process and Functional Descriptions.

  • Produce requests for quotations for our sub-suppliers, review and obtain clarifications where required.

  • Perform supplier’s bid analysis and recommend vendors to the project manager/supply chain manager.

  • Review, with multiple functions, design documents and obtain clarifications where required.

  • Review, with sub-suppliers, design documents and obtain clarifications where required.

  • Take part of commissioning, product and cleaning tests and initial production support.

  • Maintain Project documentation in line with company procedures and policies to ensure compliance with design and QHSE standards.

Performance – Execution

  • Accuracy of designs

  • Achievement of contractual performance

  • Scope, change & gap management

  • Delivery of designs on agreed times

  • Dealing with multiple contracts

  • Right-at-First Commissioning

Your Profile / Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Experience leading and managing process and equipment bids and proposals.

  • Skilled in delivering client-facing presentations and providing design-cost justifications.

  • Proven experience in engineering and equipment supply for hygienic processes within sectors such as food, dairy, beverage, pharmaceutical, or home and personal care — this is essential.

  • Ability to independently develop process designs from a blank canvas, including P&IDs and mass/energy balances.

  • Capable of independently and accurately calculating process capacities, as well as sizing equipment and piping.

  • Proficient in independently assessing risks and ensuring compliance with QSHE (Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment) standards.

  • Experience managing small projects, including control over scope, changes, cost, timeline, and quality.

  • Ability to manage a small team of engineers and contractors.

  • Strong capability to support and mentor less experienced engineers.

  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, formulation ingredients (liquids and solids), processing technologies, and equipment suppliers relevant to food, dairy, beverage, or home and personal care industries.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally 2–3 times per year.

  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK.
