The Role  

 

As a Senior Platform Engineer you will be part of a global team that designs, builds and operates Silver Rail’s cloud native SaaS platform. You will be utilising industry leading tools and practices, and embedding core principals of SRE, Security and Automation into our services. Those who join us will have the opportunity to design, implement, and manage all aspects of the cloud platforms and infrastructure. You will receive hands-on experience building the next-generation SaaS platform serving travellers around the world. 

To help us through our next phase of growth, we're looking for smart, forward-thinking, and motivated engineers that are capable of reliably operating and maintaining our systems and supporting networks. 

 

 

  

 

Key Responsibilities  

 

  • Contribute to building and enhancing every aspect of SilverRail’s evolving infrastructure and platform as a service.  
  • Support internal and external customers, and build on key cloud technologies  
  • Manage service reliability functions such as monitoring & alerting solutions, latency & load performance, uptime, and error budgets.  
  • Develop, maintain, and utilise SilverRail’s deployment automation, configuration management, and orchestration systems.  
  • Design, build, and manage SilverRail’s cloud environments and associated technologies 
  • Own the deployment process to ensure streamlined, zero-downtime, and orchestrated service delivery.  
  • Work with cross functional teams to optimise processes, application development, and customer support.  
  • On-call responsibilities 

   

 

  

 

Required Competence and Skills 

 

  • Hands on experience in operations engineer, DevOps, SRE, sysadmin role or academic knowledge 
  • 3-5 years of industry experience in an Infrastructure function, including exposure to Public Cloud services 
  • Knowledge of Linux based operating systems   
  • Experience in programming practices and Software Development Life Cycle models 
  • Experience in a common programming language or scripting language (python, ruby, bash, etc) 
  • Experience with Infrastructure as code concepts and languages, Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM etc 
  • Experience with Container technologies and platforms such as Kubernetes (AKS/EKS/GKE/Rancher/Openshift/Anthos) would be beneficial  
  • Knowledge of Git and Git based workflows such as GitOps  
  • Advocate of software best practices and Agile SDLC.  
  • Software development experience is highly valued.
