Job overview:
As a Senior PHP Developer, you will work within one of our cross-functional teams, each comprising of 4-5 developers. You will build and maintain solutions within our eCommerce Marketplace platform.
Our tech stack is comprised of a custom MVC monolith, with supporting Laravel microservices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain new systems that scale
- Write clean, maintainable and efficient code
- Troubleshoot and optimise existing applications for performance and scalability
- Conduct code reviews, providing constructive feedback to team members to maintain coding standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Maintaining legacy code; as well as writing new, modern, greenfield code
We’re looking for:
- Senior-level experience, mentoring and supporting less experienced team members
- Proven experience in writing well architected, SOLID PHP 8
- Ability to design and build versioned RESTful APIs
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical challenges and solutions to non-technical colleagues
- Understanding of using MySQL at scale
- Experience with asynchronous programming (we use RabbitMQ and PubSub)
- Test-driven workflow (i.e. PHPStan and PHPUnit drives your modern development)
- Experience with service and microservice architecture
Other desirable skills & knowledge:
- Prior experience in eCommerce systems
- Engineering for cloud (we use GCP)
- NoSQL data stores (we use Couchbase)
- Self-hosted search (we use Solr)
- Agile software development
The salary range on offer for this role is £55,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
