Job Description

This hybrid role offers a great balance of home and office working. You’ll join your colleagues in your local office 2/3 days a week.

As the UK’s largest fibre-only network, and its only proven wholesale challenger, we’re busy setting new standards for what digital infrastructure can and should be.

Designed from scratch for the internet, our network is greener, more reliable and ready for the future. The products we provide over it not only lead the market on speed, value and service, they help businesses to innovate, provide entire communities with a better foundation for their digital lives and support economic growth, locally and nationally.

What does that mean for you? The opportunity to make internet connections (and daily life) a whole lot better, for a lot of people!

Joining us as a Senior Network Engineer – Access

As our Senior Network Engineer, you will be providing subject matter engineering expertise for CityFibre’s Active Access network components, with a specific focus on Nokia, Calix, and Adtran technologies. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of active network components, ensuring solutions are delivered at pace in a standardized, scalable, supportable, and secure manner.

You’ll receive a competitive salary, a performance related bonus, and a range of benefits to support you across your financial, physical and mental wellbeing.

Some of your other responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and delivering solutions with a focus on Nokia, Calix, and Adtran equipment
  • Leading functional teams or projects and serving as a best practice/quality resource
  • Serving as an expert within your function, leveraging specialized subject matter expertise in Nokia, Calix, and Adtran technologies

What you’ll bring to the role

You’ll bring a specialist depth and breadth of Access Network Engineering at scale. Additionally, you will have:

  • Excellent understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies, with a focus on GPON/XGS-PON
  • Experience with Nokia, Calix, and Adtran equipment in mixed vendor environments, product life cycle, and technology migrations
  • Well-developed problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
