Role purpose
Lead Brompton’s global earned reputation and public affairs agenda, making the brand more visible, relevant and influential while protecting trust in the business. This role turns Brompton’s purpose, products, people and point of view on urban life into stories and advocacy that travel across markets, build cultural relevance and create measurable commercial and corporate impact.
The opportunity
Brompton is a British design and engineering icon with a global community and a clear purpose: to create urban freedom for happier lives. We are looking for an ambitious communications leader ready to step into a broad, visible senior role and shape how Brompton shows up in the world.
Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Senior Manager PR and Communications will set the global strategy, lead major announcements and campaigns, advise senior leaders, and create a more proactive global communications engine. The role combines consumer and corporate PR, executive positioning, reputation management and practical public affairs. It will suit someone who brings pace, judgement and initiative; can move confidently between strategy and delivery; and knows how to mobilise colleagues and agencies rather than wait for a brief.

Key responsibilities1. Global PR strategy and reputation
  • Define and deliver a global PR and reputation strategy aligned with Brompton’s business priorities, brand platform and growth markets.
  • Build a compelling, always-on global narrative spanning brand, product, innovation, craftsmanship, community, sustainability and the future of mobility in cities.
  • Create a proactive news and storytelling pipeline that earns attention beyond product launches and establishes Brompton as a distinctive voice in culture and urban mobility.
  • Set clear global guardrails, message frameworks and market priorities while enabling locally relevant execution.
  • Monitor reputation, media and cultural trends; identify opportunities and risks early and turn insight into action.
2. Media relations and earned impact
  • Build and sustain senior relationships with influential consumer, business, design, technology, mobility and policy media across priority markets.
  • Lead the earned strategy for major product launches, campaigns, partnerships, corporate announcements and issues.
  • Generate high-quality editorial opportunities, thought leadership, speaking platforms and creative PR ideas that increase reach, relevance and consideration.
  • Ensure PR is integrated early into campaign and category planning, working closely with Brand, regional and category teams.
  • Establish robust measurement of reach, quality, share of voice, sentiment, message cut-through and contribution to business outcomes.
3. Public affairs and stakeholder engagement
  • Shape a focused public affairs agenda that supports Brompton’s strategy and strengthens its voice on relevant urban mobility, active travel, sustainability, manufacturing and city policy topics.
  • Translate political, regulatory and stakeholder developments into clear implications, recommendations and action for senior leaders.
  • Work closely with the CMO to build productive relationships with policymakers, city leaders, officials, trade bodies, NGOs and other influential stakeholders, directly and through the Public Affairs agency.
  • Develop credible positions, briefing materials and advocacy plans, ensuring claims are evidence-led and aligned across functions and markets.
  • Connect public affairs and communications so policy engagement, corporate reputation and consumer storytelling reinforce one another.
4. Executive communications and CEO partnership
  • Act as a trusted communications adviser to the CEO, CMO and C-Suite, offering clear recommendations and constructive challenge.
  • Partner closely with the CEO as Brompton’s public-facing figurehead, shaping a distinctive platform, priority themes and programme of media, speaking and stakeholder activity.
  • Prepare sharp briefing notes, messages, speeches, opinion pieces, Q&As and media training for senior spokespeople.
  • Develop a broader bench of credible spokespeople across the business and create opportunities for them to contribute with confidence.
5. Issues, crisis and corporate communications
  • Own communications preparedness and response for reputational issues and crises, working with relevant business leaders and advisers.
  • Maintain and test clear escalation, scenario-planning, holding-statement and spokesperson protocols across global markets.
  • Bring calm judgement, pace and accuracy to fast-moving situations, balancing transparency with commercial, legal and stakeholder considerations.
  • Support corporate and internal communications where external reputation and colleague understanding need to move together.
6. Leadership, collaboration and agency management
  • Forge strong, low-friction relationships with the Head of Brand, Regional Marketing Leads, Category Marketing Leads, C-Suite and wider cross-functional partners.
  • Create an effective global PR network: clarify roles, establish planning rhythms, share learning and raise capability across markets.
  • Lead Brompton’s PR and Public Affairs agencies with demanding, inspiring briefs, clear accountability and disciplined performance management.
  • Manage budgets and resources, focusing investment on the opportunities that can make the greatest difference.
  • Model an energetic, generous and accountable leadership style; coach colleagues and build confidence in communications across the organisation.
