We’re searching for a Senior Game Designer f/m/d) who can play a pivotal role in creating, what we believe, will be the first MMO of its kind.

Who will you be working with?

You will be part of our Design team, responsible for designing, implementing, and refining various game systems, mechanics, and content for SEED.

This team works across both Berlin and Madrid but you’ll be part of a cross-functional feature team based out of our Madrid Studio. 

What will you be doing?

  • Designin and developing innovative game systems, mechanics, and content that align with the SEED vision and adhere to our design lenses, ensuring a cohesive and engaging player experience.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including artists, programmers, and producers, to ensure successful implementation and iteration of game design features.
  • Creating clear and concise design documentation, including technical writing, diagrams, and spreadsheets, to effectively communicate design concepts and requirements to the team.
  • Analyzing game data and player feedback to identify opportunities for improvement, balance, and optimization in-game mechanics, economy, and overall player experience.
  • Mentoring and guiding junior designers, sharing your expertise, and fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
  • Participating in regular design reviews and providing constructive feedback to help shape the future direction of the game.

You could be the person we are searching for if you have…

  • 5+ years of experience in game design, with a focus on virtual worlds, life simulation, or sandbox games and have successfully shipped more than one Title.
  • A strong understanding of game design principles, including game balancing, economy, and player progression systems.
  • Technical as well as creative writing proficiency, and good use of spreadsheets for game design and analysis.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment, across multiple locations.
  • Leadership experience (or display leadership potential throughout the interview process).

Bonus points for…

  • A passion for creating engaging and meaningful player experiences.
  • Experience working on cross-platform games, particularly PC and mobile.
  • Familiarity with game data editing tools and techniques.
  • Being an avid gamer with a deep understanding of the MMO and life-simulation genres

How we will get to know you… 

  1. The Recruiter Screen: You will have a 45-minute interview with Megan from the Klang Talent Acquisition team. During this conversation, you will be asked questions about your motivations for joining us here at Klang and to give an overview of your relevant skills/experience.
  2. Hiring Manager: If successful, you will have a 1-hour interview with David, one of our Design Leads, who will dive deeper into your experience. This is who you would report directly to if you become a Klanger.
  3. Competency: 2 parts!
    Design Interview: with the Design Lead from another team + a peer Designer.
    Cross-functional Team Fit Interview: with an Engineer + a Product Owner.
  4. Klang Values Interview: A 30-minute interview to assess how you resonate with our company values.
  5. Meet the Team Interview: A chance to meet a senior member of the Madrid team.
  6. Final Interview: You’ll meet Ivar, our CCO and Co-Founder.
