About the role:
In this key senior finance leadership role, reporting directly into the Head of Finance, the Senior Finance Manager role is responsible for providing high quality business partnering and accurate, actionable financial analysis to the sub-Mission Area Lead and to senior Finance leaders across Raytheon UK.
The Senior Finance Manager will be a proven leader with the resilience to work in a complex and sometimes pressured environment and will be relied upon as a trusted partner to provide proactive strategic input and financial leadership of the ACTS (Army Collective Training Services) Programme.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Finance Manager will establish and lead a Finance team which may include Finance Managers / Senior Finance Analysts / Finance Analysts to meet Programme deliverables (see Main Duties below).
Main Duties
Lead, motivate and develop an experienced Finance team, providing control and guidance on program accounting and reporting
Senior leader within the ACTS Programme, acting as trusted business partner and ensuring appropriate governance and financial stewardship.
Development, coordination and presentation of the strategy, long range plan and annual operating plan (AOP).
Leadership of the financial management and reporting of key metrics including performance against AOP and forecasts.
Lead engagement across the matrix structure with both finance and non-finance functions
Provide innovative solutions to business / program issues within RTN policy and SOX compliance.
Leading and championing CORE initiatives within the Business Program Finance team to build efficiencies of reporting and finance process.
Establishing and nurturing strong networks across the finance function and broader business / RTN US / Stakeholders; engaging and influencing at Senior (MA LT, RUK LT & FLT) levels.
Supporting business case generation for Gate Reviews including advising on: pricing strategy, basis-of-estimate generation; foreign exchange management; risk and opportunities management; contract negotiation support.
Leading hedging activities where required
Drive efficiencies, support training (systems & policy) and collaboration across the Business Finance Teams.
Leadership of actionable plans to mitigate business risks and realise opportunities.
Support timely EAC development and review with analysis and recommendations based on recent performance metrics.
Ownership of the financial results with support of monthly MBR /Ops reviews where required.
Promote the development of the ‘One Finance’ team through leading by example in work-life balance, High Performing Culture principles and continued professional development
Act as the “financial conscience” of the business and ensure Business and Financial Policy adherence
To support the wider Business during surge periods where required
Candidate Requirements:
CIMA / ACCA / ACA (or equivalent) qualified
Proven relevant commercial experience in a similar defence or complex contracting environment
Trusted senior business partner and sounding board to the sub-Mission Area Lead
Willingness to travel to multiple sites when required as a ‘visible’ leader
Excellent presentational skills. Comfortable with data and detail but having the ability to extract high level messages. Experience of presenting to senior audiences
Ability to work on concurrent issues/problems with multiple senior stakeholders and sources of information, both internal and external, under time pressure. Being able to prioritise effectively and having an agile mindset
Excellent people manager (using both direct and indirect influencing skills).
Excellent planning skills
Strong communicator and networker with a thirst for understanding the business model, providing meaningful and actionable insight, critical thinking and an ability to think differently about existing problems. Previous experience of dealing one-to-one with both senior and external stakeholders and building relationships
Ability to own issues, and deliver effective outcomes
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skillsets
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial staff
Excellent systems skills, including SAP and Microsoft Office
Experience of working in a programme environment / knowledge of accounting for long term contracts
Understanding of Project reporting including EACs & EVMS
Creative and entrepreneurial, providing innovative solutions that drive value to the business
Negotiation experience and being an effective influencer
Experience of working in a matrix organisation
Proven Finance leader with experience as a key influencer of senior stakeholders across a matrix organization
