Meet the Team Behind This Journey

Our journey is built on the foundation of DeepL, a name synonymous with world-class translation quality. The trust we have cultivated with millions of users and leading enterprise customers globally is a testament to our commitment to breaking down language barriers with precision and nuance.

Leading our next chapter is the Voice Track. Our technology is proven and ready to scale aggressively. We are a dynamic, multi-disciplinary organization bringing together teams across Research, Product Engineering, and Design to define the art of the possible for real-time voice interpretation.

Having launched our first successful customer-facing features, we are now at a critical inflection point. We are scaling rapidly to build applications for major meeting platforms, real-time communication channels, and a powerful Public API. We need a seasoned engineering leader to build the high-performance organization that will power this expansion and get this "magic" into the hands of millions more customers, faster.

Your Mission

You will lead the engineers who bring DeepL Voice directly into the hands of customers. This means owning the full lifecycle of our product engineering efforts: from architecture and execution to product quality, user experience, and measurable business impact. You will set the technical direction for our applications, coach and grow engineers, and create a culture that moves fast, focuses on customer value and builds for scale.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and grow the product engineering team, directly managing senior ICs and developing future leaders as the organization expands.

  • Own product impact end-to-end: execution velocity, reliability, UX quality, and customer outcomes.

  • Set and drive the technical vision for our application stack—architecture, performance, real-time behaviour, and integration with research-driven models.

  • Shape a product-first engineering culture that understands user needs deeply, iterates quickly, and ships with craft and rigor.

  • Collaborate closely with design, research, and product teams to translate strategy into customer-facing experiences that scale globally.

What We’re Looking For
  • A senior EM with a strong hands-on background in product engineering for complex, user-facing applications.

  • Experience leading ICs, building high-performing teams, and creating clear structures for autonomy and ownership.

  • Deep technical judgment and fluency in real-time, low-latency, or voice-adjacent systems (a plus, not mandatory).

  • Someone who thinks in terms of product, business impact, and customer experience, not just delivery.

  • A builder who thrives in fast-moving environments and enjoys shaping both the technology and the team behind it.

We are an equal opportunity employer

You are welcome at DeepL for who you are—we appreciate authenticity here. Our product is for everyone, and so is our workplace. The more voices we have represented and amplified in our business, the more we will all succeed, contribute, and think forward! So bring us your personal experience, your perspectives, and your background. It’s in our diversity that we will find the power to break down language barriers in the world.
