Job Description Summary

Software Engineer will lead technical development and delivery at Team and sometimes Lab level. They can be a Line Manager who will act as co-lead with the Team PO for overall delivery. In these cases, they will be responsible for overall tech delivery, line management & app ownership alongside their own software engineering output.. Others will operate as Individual Contributors, who are specialists in particular technology areas and will be narrower and deeper in focus.

Job Description

This is an outstanding opportunity to work in a team delivering regulatory and technology change!

We're seeking curious engineers to work within our feature teams. You will support customers by ensuring the products we deliver are fit for purpose and meet the quality and standards expected.

We're looking for someone who wants to further develop their engineering skillset. We’ll support you to be able to be able to take on technical challenges and develop your understanding of how data solutions and services are developed, tested and implemented. If this excites you then you would be an asset to our team!

We are pioneering the transformation of current processes from our on-premises platforms and have started our journey in deploying solutions on the Google Cloud Platform. This role sits within our platforms Analytics Lab who are looking to create strategic data products and build data and analytics capability.

We work using agile delivery practices, so a self-led individual capable of accurately estimating and planning their own work would be valued highly.

What You’d Get Involved With:

· Helping to review our existing processes and migrating those to Google Cloud Platform

· Design, develop, maintain, and improve prudential processes, using CI/CD pipeline tools such as Jenkins, Spinnaker, GIT, Nexus, Maven and others.

· Building pipelines for current and future analytics and reporting solutions

Implement and exemplify engineering standards to act as a mentor to colleagues, using constructive feedback to create opportunities for learning.

· Work with the Product Owner and customers to understand, refine and prioritise items for the feature team backlog, using strong problem-solving skills and a combination of technical knowledge, experience and judgement to identify available options and clearly set-out the way forward.

Key skills required:

There is no requirement to have experience with every technology listed, and we would be happy to provide any development opportunities.

· Experience with cloud technology, particularly Google Cloud Platform

· Experience of CI/CD pipelines creation and management such as Harness, Jenkins, GIT, Nexus, Artifactory, Maven, Ant, Gradle, Puppet, Terraform, GCP Deployment Manager and others

· Experience of continuous monitoring such as Dynatrace, NewRelic, Splunk, Nagios, Prometheus, Kibana and others

· Experience of continuous testing such as Selenium, Cucumber, SonarQube, Mocha, Zephyr, Veracode and others

· Experience with orchestration such as Docker, Google Kubernetes Engine, Ansible and IaC (e.g. Terraform)

· Ability to understand complex business requirements and create business ready solutions

· Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, particularly the ability to convey business information arising from technical subject matter to non-technical people.

Desirable skills include:

· Insights into industry solutions for data management, storage and analytics coupled with experience of financial data, including Credit Risk, capital and impairment processes
