As a Senior Database Administrator within Trimble Rail, you will be a key player in managing and optimizing our database environment. You'll take ownership of the full database lifecycle, from design and documentation to implementation and maintenance. Your expertise will be crucial in safeguarding the integrity and availability of our data, supporting our agile software development teams, and driving continuous improvement.

What You Will Do:

  • Administering a critical production SQL Server database environment, alongside supporting MySQL and PostgreSQL database servers.

  • Guaranteeing the high availability and robust security of our databases and underlying infrastructure.

  • Performing meticulous daily health checks, including backup verification, database integrity checks, and index performance analysis.

  • Defining and enforcing database standards and access controls.

  • Leading the installation, patching, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance of our SQL Server estate.

  • Providing expert support to our Java-based Development teams, resolving database and SQL-related queries and issues.

  • Implementing, monitoring, and maintaining critical SQL Server jobs and SSIS packages.

  • Performing data migrations and bulk data loads as needed.

What Skills & Experience You Should Bring:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, focused on automation and operations.

  • Strong Microsoft SQL Server expertise.

  • Familiarity with Amazon AWS RDS or comparable services.

  • Ability to troubleshoot production database issues.

  • Database best practices and CI/CD knowledge.

  • Strong acquaintance with High Availability and Disaster Recovery Methods.

  • Full professional proficiency in English.

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with SSIS package management and development.

  • Familiarity with Agile team structures and workflows.

  • Previous experience leading or mentoring other database administrators.
