About the team
The Marketing Engineering team builds the technology that powers Roku’s marketing capabilities. We’re responsible for the server technologies, data, tools, and cloud services that enable Roku’s marketing business to reach customers at the right time with the right message.
Our team is focused on building reliable, large-scale, and low-latency systems that support the real-time delivery of content and ads backed by robust data infrastructure. This work directly impacts how we personalise and optimise communications to millions of streamers around the world.
We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer with a strong background in distributed systems and real-time data pipelines. This is a high-impact role where you’ll work across product, data, and engineering teams to build scalable and efficient solutions for content delivery and marketing performance.

The Marketing Engineering team is focused on building the right products and services to ensure we deliver the right message to the right customer at the right time.
The ideal candidate will bring curiosity, a global mindset, and a strong ability to execute locally. You should be a self-starter and effective problem-solver who can drive technical efforts in collaboration with both internal product teams and external strategic partners. You’ll need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing business needs and able to apply both technical and soft skills to deliver impact.
What you’ll be doing
- Design and develop large-scale, low-latency systems to optimise the delivery of content and ads through marketing channels
- Build and maintain robust data applications and pipelines that drive insights and execution
- Develop and maintain analytics dashboards to track metrics influenced by marketing engineering systems
- Deliver reliable, production-ready systems that monitor and adapt with minimal human intervention
- Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to build features and visualisations aligned with strategic goals
We’re excited if you have
- A degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Experience in creating and maintaining visualisations using tools like Looker, Tableau, etc.
- Experience in defining the design and layout of visualisations based on product and engineering requirements
- An understanding of key metrics across various business units and how they interrelate
- Experience developing large-scale data pipelines
- Experience in dealing with streaming and batch compute frameworks like Spring Kafka, Kafka Streams, Flink, Spark Streaming, Spark
- Experience with large-scale computing platforms such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and NoSQL stores
- Exposure to UI development of visualisations in modern web apps (e.g. Streamlit, Retool) is nice to have
- Experience with AWS, GCP.
