Our flagship campus is in Sydney, Australia but we engage our Contractors and Freelancers all over the world to help us meet our crazy big goals. As a Contractor or Freelancer at Canva you can work remotely in the country listed on this job ad, meaning you have ultimate flexibility. Wherever works for you, works for us. Please note, this is a 6-month contract.
What you'd be doing in this role
As our Senior Brand Designer, you'll collaborate closely with the Creative Director to elevate Canva's visual presence across EMEA. Partnering with a talented team, including copywriters, freelancers and agencies, you'll ideate, design and execute for projects that elevate our brand - from scroll-stopping performance ads, to events and campaigns that shape Canva's perception in EMEA.
Design expertise is super important to the role. We're looking for someone who can bring concepts to life with creativity, attention to detail, and a strong grasp of motion design (motion skills are a plus but not essential). At the moment, this role is focused on:
- Leading the visual direction for brand, product, and performance campaigns, keeping every project fresh, consistent, and innovative.
- Designing simple, powerful storyboards for ads and hype reels that bring Canva to life.
- Confidently pitching concepts and present work to senior creative leaders, product marketing managers, and stakeholders, clearly articulating the creative vision and strategic approach.
- Writing with the same creativity and clarity you bring to your designs.
- Being passionate about exceptional art direction and design that's not just beautiful but also thoughtful, meaningful, and, when it needs to be, provocative.
- Collaborating with external vendors, providing clear art direction guidance and feedback to help elevate their work.
- Working closely with the Creative Director to ensure schedules are accurate and realistic and that deadlines are met.
You're probably a match if
- You have 6-10 years of experience in design, advertising and branding.
- You have strong design skills and a solid understanding of motion design (motion skills are a plus but not essential), with experience leading projects from start to finish.
- You have an understanding that spans digital design, product design, and Figma is key to ensuring that your vision is fully realised.
- You're excited to jump on Canva, Affinity and Figma to design.
- You have native-level English skills. Additional languages are a plus (French, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, German).
- Bonus points if you've art-directed films or photoshoots before.
- This is a remote role with flexible working hours, but you'll need to balance your schedule to accommodate occasional global team meetings in the evening (6-9 PM)

We aim to create meaningful connections with users in EMEA through regional campaigns, localized moments, and evergreen creative initiatives across a variety of functions - performance marketing, brand, events, partnerships, social, community engagement and other growth channels.
