Position Overview: As the founding Sales Development Representative (SDR) for the EMEA region at TrueNAS, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and driving our company's growth across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa by generating new business opportunities. You will be the first point of contact for potential clients in the region, responsible for engaging and nurturing leads through various channels.
This is a unique opportunity to build the EMEA sales development function from the ground up. You will contribute to company growth by engaging prospective customers, evaluating potential opportunities, and applying judgment to determine how and when leads should advance within the sales process. The role emphasizes consultative discovery, lead qualification, and collaboration with sales partners to support high-quality pipeline development.
This is a remote position in Europe.
Base Pay Range
The on-target-earnings for this position range from €75,000 - €80,000 per year.

The final offer will consider various factors, such as location, education, and prior experience, to ensure a comprehensive and fair compensation assessment.

This position will be open for a minimum of 5 days, a maximum of 90 days.
The Day-to-Day
The essential functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Independently assess and respond to inbound inquiries, applying judgment to determine relevance, priority, and appropriate next steps based on business need and technical fit.
- Develop and execute outbound prospecting strategies to generate new business opportunities, including account research, tailored outreach, and engagement across multiple channels (e.g., phone, email, and social platforms).
- Conduct consultative initial discovery conversations to assess prospect needs, technical requirements, organizational readiness, budget considerations, and anticipated purchase timelines, exercising discretion in determining whether a prospect meets qualification criteria.
- Maintain active engagement with prospective customers through thoughtful and strategic follow-up communications designed to advance understanding, validate use cases, and increase alignment with TrueNAS solutions.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Operations teams to transition qualified leads into the sales process, providing context, insights, and recommendations that support deal progression and revenue outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of opportunity status, qualification rationale, and customer interactions in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) to support forecasting, pipeline analysis, and continuous improvement.
- Analyze personal performance trends, pipeline conversion metrics, and market feedback to refine prospecting strategies and improve effectiveness over time.
- Achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly performance objectives measured primarily by opportunity quality, pipeline contribution, and revenue influence rather than activity volume
- Maintain working knowledge of TrueNAS products, solutions, and industry trends to effectively articulate value propositions and differentiate offerings in competitive contexts.
Education and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- 1+ years of experience in sales development, lead generation, or a similar role in the technology industry.
- Experience with CRM software and modern Sales Tech Stacks (e.g., Salesforce, Gong, etc)
- Ability to be both self-reliant and a team player
- Background in Storage Industry or Open Source Technologies a plus
- Familiarity with TrueNAS is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in evaluating business opportunities, prospect fit, and qualification criteria.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding performance targets through strategic prospecting and consultative engagement while maintaining customer trust
- Ability to forecast opportunity progression and pipeline contribution based on informed assessment rather than prescribed activity quotas.
- Comfortable operating in competitive, underdog environments that require creativity, resilience, and thoughtful positioning rather than reliance on brand recognition.
- Strong self-direction and time-management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute work with limited supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to adapt messaging based on audience, use case, and business context.
- Fluency in English required; additional European languages (e.g., German, French, Spanish, Dutch) are a strong plus
- Background in Open Source Technologies a plus
- Experience working across multiple EMEA markets and understanding of regional business cultures
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize information from discovery conversations and market signals.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional partners.
- Familiarity with IT software/hardware infrastructure ecosystems preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
