Managing £273 billion GBP in assets our 1,000‑strong team across nine countries is brilliantly connected, collaborative, and focused on delivering outcomes that truly matter.

Working together and acting responsibly are central to how we operate. We take time to understand what our clients want to achieve and design solutions that last - strengthening every portfolio with diverse perspectives and integrated thinking. Our long track record in sustainable investing reflects our commitment to doing the right thing for clients and communities alike.

Everyone at Aviva Investors plays a part in creating an exceptional client experience. With the scale and influence to make a real difference, we take our responsibility seriously. Join us and you’ll find an inclusive, supportive environment where your contribution is valued, high performance is recognised, and you’re empowered to shape your development.

We are recruiting for a Business Development Manager to join our Wholesale Distribution team, working within our Advisory Distribution function. In this role, you’ll be responsible for strengthening and developing relationships with key Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs) and Strategic Partners across the North of England. You’ll also play a vital part in fostering internal collaboration within Aviva Life Company, ensuring a seamless ‘One Aviva’ experience for our mutual clients.

A bit about the role:

You will represent and sell Aviva Investors’ investment capabilities to UK Wholesale intermediary clients, driving AUM growth across tier one, two and three IFAs. Operating within a regional model, you will manage a defined client portfolio while developing new business across the North West, Yorkshire and North East, with significant field‑based client engagement.

You will deliver against individual and regional sales targets across Multi Asset Funds, MPS and single‑asset capabilities, supported by effective account planning and a strong new‑business pipeline. Building long‑term client relationships through meetings, events and regional activity will be central to success.

You will maintain accurate records of client interactions and pipeline activity via internal CRM systems, ensuring high standards of governance and control. Working closely with teams including Investments, Marketing, Wholesale, Client Services and MI, you will deliver joined‑up solutions and share insights as the voice of the client in the UK Wholesale market.

Skills and experience we're looking for:

  • Strong knowledge of regulated asset management products and services, with particular expertise in Multi‑Asset investments
  • Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, IMC, or equivalent qualification required
  • In‑depth understanding of the UK IFA landscape, with an established and demonstrable network of contacts
  • Proven commercial sales acumen, with the ability to analyse and distil data into clear, compelling insights
  • Confident and motivated self‑starter, able to generate new leads and build prospective client relationships, including via in-person and phone‑based engagement

This is a home-based role which requires travel to our partner offices across Sheffield, York, Liverpool, Manchester, and Leeds.

What you’ll get for this role:

  • Generous pension scheme - Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in
  • Eligibility for annual performance bonus
  • Family friendly parental and carer’s leave
  • Generous holiday entitlement plus bank holidays with the option to buy/sell up to 5 additional days
  • Up to 40% discount for Aviva products
  • Aviva-funded Private Medical Benefit to help you get expert support when you need it
  • Aviva Matching Share Plan and Save As You Earn scheme
  • 21 volunteering hours per year

In this role you’ll be ‘Certified’ under the Financial Conduct Authority / Prudential Regulation Authority’s Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR). This means that we’ll need to complete some regulatory background checks on you before you take up your role and we’ll need to ask you some questions on an annual basis to make sure you remain ‘fit and proper’ and competent to carry out your role. We’ll provide training on what holding a SMCR role means when you join us and annually thereafter.

Aviva is for everyone:

We’re inclusive and welcome everyone – we want applications from all backgrounds and experiences. Excited but not sure you tick every box? Even if you don’t, we would still encourage you to apply. We also consider all forms of flexible working, including part time and job shares.

We flex locations, hours and working patterns to suit our customers, business, and you. Most of our people are smart working –spending at least 50% of their time in our offices every week - combining the benefits of flexibility, with time together with colleagues.
