The Principal Test Automation Engineer is responsible for managing and ensuring the successful delivery of test automation solutions against projects,, products, releases and IT changes.

The Principal Test Automation Engineer is a highly skilled and experienced resource who will promote quality and advocacy on best test practices, create and manage test automation assets, engage with and support manual testing efforts where required, and manage the resolution of issues that impede the test effort.

The role is described as a hybrid role between Test Lead and Senior Test Engineer, with an emphasis on automation. It is therefore expected that the candidate should be capable of adapting their style to include a hands-on approach with testing where necessary.

·       Working rota – Monday Friday

·       Working hours – 40

What You'll Be Doing: 

As a Principal Test Automation Engineer, you'll be doing the following: 

  • Automation and execution of test cases of a complex or business critical nature
  • Subject Matter Expertise for testing of a specific Business Unit
  • Maintaining and improving test processes
  • Adhering to the Test Strategy
  • Test Progress Reporting
  • Defining, preparing, and maintaining overall Test Plans/Approach

What We're Looking For:

  • Highly skilled Test Engineer experience
  • Previous ‘hands-on’ experience on large IT projects and programmes
  • Understanding structured test methods
  • Experience of Manual and Automated testing

    · Knowledge of the following:

    o Silk Test -Workbench (VB.Net) and Silk Central

    o Selenium or Cypress web testing tools

    o Automation of legacy character-based terminal applications (Telnet or similar)

    o SQL

    o Microsoft Excel and all 365 apps

    o VB Script, .NET, Python and Java code/scripting languages

    o Monitoring Software - PerfMon, Zabbiz, Newrelic or similar
