What will this role achieve?

We are seeking a talented high potential individual reporting into the Operational Excellence Manager, who will help to deliver world class manufacturing operations to a site. The role is mainly site based but will have a requirement to work along side the Excellence Central Team to support the establishment of a continuous Improvement culture by reducing non-value adding activities across the site and wider business.

You will be proactive in supporting the sites Excellence vision, ensuring the site is aligned driving for profitable growth and a standardised approach to Continuous Improvement.

Note, this role will be site-based in Manchester.

What will be your key deliverables?

  • Supporting the facilitating, mentoring and developing teams/individuals at all levels on-site as part of the implementation and successful application of Lean tools.

  • Being an integral part of all site team and therefore a key part of delivering Prime, Overhead and budget targets

  • Working closely with the Team Manager's to ensure the ongoing sustainability of Lean tools on site - ensuring that skills levels are maintained and benefits realised

  • Supporting the communications around Lean processes and results across site

  • Supporting the site's Lean roll out is consistent with the overall Excellence approach

  • Whilst the role is site based, travel to other sites and supporting projects at other sites should be expected, which will support benchmarking across the both the home site and other pladis sites

  • Supporting the facilitation of Continuous Improvement Teams across site, in conducting ‘narrow and deep’ interventions aimed at reducing cost

  • Supporting and facilitating lean training courses across the site and if required other pladis sites

  • Support the delivery of project(s) which results in a saving (full year) of twice annual excellence support costs.

Bring your experience

Crucial

  • Motivated and passionate about Continuous Improvement (CI), with a resilient character – you will be able to empower people!
  • Strong understanding of lean tools & techniques within CI & Leadership elements
  • Track record of operating in a Manufacturing / Supply Chain CI culture
  • Influencing across all levels on site and the business

Preferred

  • Capex understanding and systems
  • Insights / HPB - understanding and developing behaviours
  • Experience of managing diversity
  • Commercial Awareness
  • Total Productivity Maintenance (TPM) understanding
  • Black belt qualification
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • Strong IT skills (e.g. MS Office)
  • Time Management (incl Delegation)

  • Effective Communication & presentation skills
  • Change Management / Sponsorship skills
  • Effective Project Management
  • Coaching toolkit and knowledge
  • Lean six sigma qualifications (green belt minimum)
