Job Description

Network Engineer - Cambridgeshire

The L2 Network Engineer will cover management, maintenance and support of network infrastructure, perimeter security systems and network management platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting network and security infrastructure (LAN / WAN / WLAN / Firewalls / Application/VPN, etc.)
  • Troubleshooting complex network issues, identifying network bottlenecks, and implementing solutions to ensure optimal network performance
  • Optimizing network infrastructure to ensure maximum performance and scalability.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and inventory records
  • Prepare regular reports on network performance, availability, and security
  • Day-to-day patching, maintenance and operation of the above in secure environments
  • Continual improvement of the systems based on changing demands
  • Liaising with various departments within the business
  • Coordinating with 3rd party suppliers and partners to support, maintain and implement these systems

Skills & Experience:

Essential;

  • Experience of enterprise LAN/WAN/WLAN management
  • Experience of Cisco, HPE, Aruba
  • Experience of firewall technologies, particularly Fortinet, Cisco.
  • Experience of network monitoring, troubleshooting and management tools

Desirable;

  • Cisco certification
  • Fortinet certification
  • Aruba certification

Additional Information

  • Must have the right to live and work in the UK. 
  • Due to our location, access to own transport is essential.
  • Must meet Security Clearance requirements if this is a requirement of the role and any offer would be conditional upon the successful candidate passing BPSS which includes a criminal record check
  • This role requires participation in 24/7 On-call, which operates on a rotational basis.
